Dear Galvin Families,
Monday (tomorrow) night at 6:30 is the first GMS CAPT meeting of the year. Meeting and Zoom info is detailed below.
Tuesday, Nov 10 is our term I end date. Report cards will be issued to your child's e-locker in Plus Portals on November 18.
Wednesday, Nov 11 the Canton Public Schools will close in honor of Veteran's Day.
Tuesday, Nov 17 we will be hosting several virtual drop in support sessions to help parents and caregivers navigate the Google Classroom and Plus Portals waters. If you want to know more about these tools and how they can help you support your child's learning and how you can better partner with teachers, please join us. We will be sending a separate email with registration information soon. Sessions will be limited to 15 participants and will be offered at 7:30 am, 9:30am, 3:00pm, 5:30pm and 7:00pm.
Wednesday, Nov 18 is GMS Parent Conferences. Please see below and/or the separate email that was sent for more information.
Wednesday, Nov 25 will be a true early release day (with no afternoon work assigned) as we get ready to celebrate the Thanksgiving Holiday. The district will also be closed Nov 26 & 27. Classes will resume on November 30, 2020.
Finally, to bring a little cheer to our building and to support our home football team - the Patriots - we will be having a Patriots' spirit day on Monday (tomorrow) for Cohort A and on Friday for Cohort B. Let's hope this brings them victory agains both the Jets and the Ravens.

GMS Parent-Teacher Conferences
The Galvin Middle School Parent/Teacher Conferences will take place virtually by appointment only on Wednesday, November 18th from 12:00–1:00, 1:10-2:25, 2:35-3:45, 3:50-5:00, 6:00-6:45 and 6:55-7:45.
Appointments can be made electronically beginning on Wednesday, November 4th at 4:00 PM. Appointments will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Please mark 11/4 at 4pm on your calendar if you wish to set up an appointment with your child's teacher(s).
A separate email with further information and instructions will be sent to all families on Monday, November 2.
GMS Student Work Spotlight - 7th Grade HallowSTEAM Challenges
7th grade students were given a choice of several HallowSTEAM Challenges using a simplified Engineering Design Process Activity last week to celebrate Halloween science-style!
Their choices were:
Halloween Car - “Can you build a car to move without touching it?”
Candy Chemistry- “What happens when you put candy in different solutions?”
Web Design: Spidy Style - “Can you design a web that will hold a weight?” Flying Bats “Can you make a bat soar?” Thanks, Ms. Winchell and Ms. Stuarts, for making science so Spook-Tacular!
