For Your Information & Action:
Observations: The admin team is working on strengthening and calibrating the feedback that is given to teachers. You will see us doing classroom observations all together in the next few weeks; please know that this is to help us improve our own practice and to make sure that we are giving meaningful and consistent feedback to all teachers.
Office Detention: Please see the Office Detention Calendar for your assigned day. On your day, go to the calendar and click on your name to see your list of assigned students. If your name does not have a link, it means you have no students assigned. On the detention list, please mark whether students are present or absent.
Field Trip Request Form: A Field Trip Request form must be approved by the principal. Once this form is approved, it is added to the Important Dates Calendar on google. Anyone that is chaperoning a field trip MUST also complete a Leave Request form, check off the field trip box and specify which one you are going on. You must have permission to be out of the building for the day and have approval for a sub to be called in. It is your responsibility to check the Out Today calendar on google to see if you are listed. If you are NOT, a form was not received and/or approved.
Students Missing From Class: If you have a student missing from class and cannot locate them after sending an all-staff email, please let Lauren or Mark know by the end of the day. They will follow up with the student and find out where they were (and issue a consequence if appropriate). This applies to advisory as well.
Advisory Calendar: There has been some confusion with the Advisory Calendar this year because as you may have noticed, different grades sometimes have different activities for advisory time. On the advisory calendar, there is a column all the way to the left that says "Grade" and has each of the grades listed. Make sure that you click on your advisory's grade when you are looking for the lesson for the day. See screenshot below and let Lauren or John know if you have any questions.
Reminders
Calling Out Sick: When calling out, please make calls before 8pm the night before, or before 6am the morning of. This mailbox is only checked twice a day at these times. Leave a voicemail on Sue Bresnahan’s phone (437-5596). Emails and text are not accepted. Requesting to leave school early requires the permission of an administrator.
Staff Shout Outs!
- Shout out to the whole 9th grade experience team for kicking off instructional rounds this week! Thank you Kirsti for having all of the 9th grade teachers visit your class!
Responsibility and Perseverance:
- Shout out to everyone who is working to build strong relationships in advisory! It is a really powerful thing to walk through advisories and see so many groups having great conversations, playing games, sharing quotes, and generally just checking in with each other. It's fun to see the different ways in which teachers have set up their advisories--many are circling up (but in a variety of ways that works for their particular classroom), and other groups have found a structure that that works best for them to engage with each other. Thank you all!
- Thank you to Jen Reagan for helping problem-solve and work out the kinks of our new senior privileges and with attendance in general. You are always so quick to respond to emails about student attendance!
- Shout out to Carol Inman for being proactive and thoughtful when she had the kitchen staff review all the health mandatory trainings before being asked to do so.
- Thank you to Sarah Jablonski for reinforcing policies and procedures in the guidance office, even when students push back!
- Nicole Rainville's procedures and structures in her classroom are tight and allow students to review old skills and learn new skills through a variety of methods!
- Alesia Estabrook and Jen Reagan make a great front office team. They are always willing to help out with a smile!
Collaboration and Engagement:
- Shout out to Scott Green, Trisha Keane, Pat Parent, Alison O'Shea, Sue Tracy, Bozena Jaworowski, and Carol Hanrahan for providing an amazing opportunity at Camp Moses for the 8th grade Rocky Mountain team to bond with each other and with their teachers!
- Thank you to Matt Geertsma and Tara O'Brien for your purposeful and thoughtful coordination of curriculum in your math and science classrooms.
Respect and Compassion:
- Thank you to Lynn Hicks, Jan Sniffen, and Tara Winters for putting your heads together and coming up some explicit structures to best support one of our middle school students.
Student Spotlight
Junior of the Week: Maura Joseph has been putting great effort into her work in anatomy and is doing awesome! She was nominated by Shelley Seymour.
