Master Schedule Update

The new 7-12 Master Schedule is complete, including new course offerings. Most of our students are fully scheduled for next year. Teaching assignments and classroom assignments will be completed soon.

Academic Recovery

Students are being identified for the 7-12 Academic Enrichment/Intervention program, and the credit recovery for high school students. Work is ongoing to staff these programs.

Jr/Sr High School Principal Search

Meetings have taken place to get stakeholder input on the hiring of a new principal for Reading Junior/Senior High School. Focus groups were held with students and staff members, and a community forum was held to get feedback from the Reading community on the qualities, values, and characteristics that are important in the next principal. 25 people have applied, with 9 going through the initial screening. A hiring committee will begin interviews next week, with a goal of making a recommendation to the Board during the June 2 work session.

Wellness and Community Outreach Coordinator Hired

The Board approved the hiring of Stephanie Glad as the district’s new Wellness and Community Outreach Coordinator, effective August 1, 2021. The Board also approved the hiring of Pam Pinnix as Building Secretary for Reading Elementary. Several other staffing changes were approved as the result of vacancies, transfers, and retirements. These are positions funded through federal pandemic funds and those included in the Five-Year Forecast.
