Mercator Projection
A mercator projection is a projection of a map of the world onto a cylinder in such a way that all the parallels of latitude have the same length as the equator, used esp. for marine charts and certain climatological maps.

Distortion is the action of giving a misleading account or impression.

Robinson Projection
The Robinson projection is a map projection of a world map which shows the entire world at once. It was specifically created in an attempt to find a good compromise to the problem of readily showing the whole globe as a flat image
this is a map of the whole world.
Cartographer
A person who makes maps.
In this picture it shows a lady drawing a map out, therefore she is a Cartographer.
Polar Projection
The Polar Projection is the azimuthal equidistant projection is an azimuthal map projection. It has the useful properties that all points on the map are at proportionately correct distances from the center point, and that all points on the map are at the correct azimuth from the center point.
In this picture all the states are correctly placed in the right place.
