Dear Robert Hunter families,
We had quite an eventful week at RH! We had our final mindfulness lessons with the Pratyush Sinha Foundation that ended with mindfulness assemblies for each grade level. We hope our students will continue to practice the strategies that they have learned to help them handle big feelings, cope with stress, and maintain a positive outlook. You can encourage your children’s use of mindfulness practices at home.
Buddy classes met this past Friday to do planting in our courtyard. Jackie Pasquarelli, ESS counselor at RH, helped teach RH students about gardening. It was a school-wide effort - with some classes preparing the soil and some planting the flowers. The PTO, along with generous donations from Lowes, provided our planting tools and flowers - thank you! The end result was a beautiful outdoor space that everyone can now enjoy.
We also recognized Arbor Day at our whole school assembly, where we revealed a new tree that will be planted at RH courtesy of the Hunterdon County Shade Tree Commission.
Of course, the week ended with a fantastic Family Olympics event. We loved seeing the return of this RH community tradition, and it was wonderful seeing so many families at RH having fun together. Thank you to Noelle Mazzaferro and Brigid Casey for organizing the event. Also, thank you to all of our RH staff volunteers and the PTO for their help. We are looking forward to more upcoming events - the basket auction on May 13th and Diversity Night on May 27th. Save the dates! Please read more below about how to participate in Diversity Night!
This past week was Administrative Professionals Week, and we recognized our wonderful school secretaries- Wendy Chambers, Jeannie Whalen, and Mercedes Mariano. This upcoming week is Teacher Appreciation Week! We can not thank our teachers enough for their passion, care, and dedication to the RH community! Please take some extra time this week to thank your child’s teachers for all that they do!
Enjoy the weekend!
Mrs. Glaab and Mrs. Braynor

NJSLA
The New Jersey State Learning Assessment (NJSLA) will be administered to 3rd and 4th grade students during the Week of May 16th and May 23rd. Students will be using their chromebooks for the assessments, so chromebooks will not be coming home in order to ensure students have their devices in school. Please have students bring their chargers back to school as soon as possible, so we can be sure we are prepared and ready for the assessment. We ask that you send in earbuds/headphones if your child does not already have them in school. Please note that bluetooth headphones and/or mice are not permitted for the state assessment.
Smart watches are not permitted to be worn during the assessment - please leave these watches at home.
After-School Enrichment Clubs
After-school enrichment clubs take place this week. You do not need to send dismissal notes for clubs, as we have student rosters for all of the clubs.
Please note that there are two sections of K-2 Cooking Club, with one on Wednesdays and one on Thursdays. Our Wednesday section began last week, and our Thursday section will begin this week.
When picking up your child from after-school clubs, please park in the lot and be prepared to sign out your child with the club advisor. Students will be waiting under the front overhang.
Due to the number of participants, children in Robbie’s Runners will be picked up from the gym door to the right of the building (near the side parking lot) and signed out there.
You should have received a reminder email from the PTO with program dates and dismissal information. If you have any questions please contact roberthunterpto@gmail.com
Diversity Night
We are getting excited for Diversity Night on May 27th, and we are looking forward to celebrating the diverse cultures of our community. We hope that many of you will participate by preparing a cultural dish or hosting a table that reflects your culture, nationality, and/or country. Students can also share a performance that celebrates and/or teaches about their cultures.
Please return the form below if you will be participating!
Spirit Day -May 6th
4th Graders have chosen Hat Day as our next spirit day. Students are encouraged to wear spirit wear (or blue and white) and a favorite or crazy hat on May 6th.
Thank you, Ms. Nealis!
During lunchtime last week, Ms. Nealis sprang into action when a student was choking. We honored her heroic efforts with flowers and a certificate of appreciation.
