spring break newsletter
Principal's Corner
Dear FSA Community,
I would like to start this newsletter by thanking our wonderful teachers for the great implementation of cyber school during the last three weeks. Without the hardwork of our teachers, this level of success wouldn't be possible. Thank you! I hope you rest and enjoy your spring break.
I would also like to share how proud I am of our students. Their motivation for learning and engagement made this an enjoyable experience for all of us. We are so proud of all of our students. We hope you rest and enjoy your spring break as well.
Finally, I would also like to thank our wonderful parents for their support during this time. We have received so many wonderful emails from you indicating your happiness with the cyber school program and that energized us to do even more to improve the quality each and every day. Thank you so much for your support. It means the world to us.
Due the success of our cyber school program, we have been contacted by many local and international school systems to share our knowledge and experience. This past Tuesday, Mrs. Sanchez presented our Cyber School program to an Australian school through zoom and this past Wednesday, I (Principal Sener) presented it to about 130 administrators and superintendents in Romania. I also presented it to an elite group of about 35 educational leaders from around the world as part of a meeting organized by a London based educational service organization. We should all be proud of our work. We are a great team alltogether.
CYBER SCHOOL WILL CONTINUE TILL THE END OF THIS SCHOOL YEAR
As you know, Governor Brian Kemp ordered all public school to close till the end of this school year. We will follow the same. Our faculty is heartbroken at this time as we miss seeing our students on our campus very much but we are thankful that our students (and faculty) are home safe and healthy as a result of these closures. Please see a video from our elementary faculty here.
Lastly, we will be laying out our Newsletter a little differently for the foreseeable future so that we can highlight Elementary, Middle, and High in a more organized fashion. This will also allow our viewers to more easily navigate to their desired section of the newsletter. Various stories and information will accompany each section.
This Issue Will Be Laid Out in the Following Order:
- staff and faculty can have fun too!
- Mustang News From the Past Week
- Elementary News (PK - 5th)
- Middle School News (6th - 8th)
- High School News (9th - 12th)
- Ways You Can Help During This Time
- Summer Camps (these may change due to current circumstances. We will be sure to keep our families updated)
Stay safe. Stay healthy.
Sincerely,
Kenan Sener
Principal

VIRTUAL SCHOOL TOURS & ADMISSION TESTING FOR PROSPECTIVE FAMILIES
As you are aware, during the National COVID-19 Emergency FSA has transitioned to Cyber School using Zoom Video Conferencing. In the spirit of social distancing and for family and teacher safety, we are doing the same with our tours and admissions assessments.
We are conducting Virtual Tours using Zoom video conferencing. Virtual Elementary Tours are available on Tuesday mornings at 9:30 am. Our Middle School Virtual Tours are held on Wednesday mornings at 9:30 am and the High School Virtual Tours are on Tuesdays at Noon. Each tour takes about an hour.
To sign up for a virtual tour please log into your child’s FSA Admissions Progress page here: https://fultonscienceacademy.myschoolapp.com/app/onBoard#login.
If you do not yet have an account in our admissions system, please complete this inquiry form: https://fultonscienceacademy.myschoolapp.com/app/embed#inquiry/29544.
Once the Inquiry form is processed, you will receive login information and will be able to schedule Virtual Tours, Virtual Testing, upload school records and request teacher recommendations. Prior to the tours, families will receive a Zoom link and access to the Admissions Information/VirtualTour Packet.
If you need a tour for multiple grade levels, for example, you have both elementary aged students and high school students, we can set up an individual tour that is focused on those levels. Please email pwalsh@fultonscienceacademy.org to set up a multi grade virtual tour time. Thank you for understanding!

D.E.A.R. Day was a Success!
While we certainly missed being comfy, cozy and together in our classrooms.. our elementary students made the most of their virtual D.E.A.R. Day event! On Friday, April 3rd our elementary students celebrated National D.E.A.R. (Drop Everything And Read) Day. Students joined in their pajamas, brought their favorite books from home, and participated in a variety of fun activities to celebrate reading for enjoyment! Each grade level had a special LIVE Author guest, a special mystery reader (or a few), and a variety of reading activities scheduled into their day to work towards filling up their reading thermometer and reach the goal of 60 minutes of reading!
Some highlights include...
- A live read aloud of Potato Pants with author Laurie Keller & a "how to" draw character faces with PK-1st grade
- A live author visit with sneak peek and drawing lesson of Pacey Packer: Unicorn Tracker with author J.C. Phillipps with 2nd-3rd grade
- A live read aloud of Samuel Morse, That's Who! with author Tracy Maurer and "how to" morse code lesson with 4th-5th grade
- A special visit from a Time For Kids editor and author for Mrs. McNeill's 3rd grade class
- Storytime from SPACE!
& much more!

HIGH SCHOOL NEWS | 9-12
Junior Tyler H. nominated into governors honors program (GHP)
"The Georgia Governor’s Honors Program (GHP) is a residential summer program for gifted and talented high school students who will be rising juniors and seniors during the program. The program offers instruction that is significantly different from the typical high school classroom and that is designed to provide students with academic, cultural, and social enrichment necessary to become the next generation of global critical thinkers, innovators, and leaders.
GHP is held in mid-summer (mid-June to mid-July) as a residential educational experience on a college or university campus. Students attend classes in the mornings and afternoons in specific areas of study, and they participate in a wide variety of social and instructional opportunities every evening. Meals and rooms are provided by the program with the only required and expected costs to the students being travel expenses to and from the interviews, a few basic supplies for classes and dorm rooms, and spending money as desired during the program."
