T3 Teacher of the Month: Samantha Virnig of Tippit Middle School

Kuddos goes out to Samantha the Science Teacher! She has been an awesome T3 participant by absorbing and sharing engaging ways technology can be integrated with her 6th graders.

Samantha utilizes her SchoolWires webpage for effective communication of what goes on her her classes: http://www.georgetownisd.org/Page/4827

She also shares her students' work with their families and the world via Twitter. You can follow her class @SimpVirSci

Middle School can be a challenging time for students, but Samantha makes her kids comfortable by allowing them the freedom and creativity to express their learning with available technology.

Below is a brief sampling ( via pictures and video) of her students at work with technology. For more, please see her twitter feed.

A Rock's Life by Daniel, Kaleb & Jayden

From The Desk of The Editor: Cori Coburn-Shiflett

It has been a great pleasure to be welcomed into Georgetown ISD this school year. Thanks to extraordinary administrative vision and staff who have dedicated themselves to constant improvement, I would count the initial year of the T3 PLC a success. Initially started as a voluntary group for elementary teachers who wanted to improve their technology integration, the group's membership expanded to welcome all grade levels teachers, support staff, administrators, technicians , librarians, parents and even a school board member. I look forward to see where the positive momentum of district leadership will take us.

This summer I will travel to present all over Texas, and I hope to convey what an awesomely inspiring school district Georgetown is and the fantastic endeavors we are embracing to empower our staff and students. Below are 3 featured conferences where I will be presenting this summer in addition to the fabulous in-district series of learning opportunities. I encourage interested teachers and administrators to check them out.

In closing, I would greatly like to thank all of Georgetown ISD for giving me the opportunity to better myself by serving our community. Hope to see you this summer!
