Teaching the New Computing Curriculum Using iPad Apps
This is a practical hands-on course, which will focus on developing an understanding of programming skills needed for the new computing curriculum and explore how these can be taught to pupils in a creative, effective, challenging and engaging lessons in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
This course will be run by David Andrews who has presented his work at recent conferences for the National Association of Head Teachers and Focus Education. He has delivered computing lessons in Primary Schools working alongside staff, sharing methods and ideas in Key Stage 1 & 2. He has also written lesson plans using a range of programming apps which have been chosen as a way of introducing pupils to the fundamental ideas they'll use in programming.
Alongside colleague Chris Williams, David shares his work on the popular and influential blog www.mrandrewsonline.blogspot.com which has recently been shortlist for the 2014 UK Blog Awards for its impact in Education.
*The course features the use of iPad Minis, which will be provided on the day (no experience necessary). Although the ideas, methods and activities can be carried out on other devices.

Practical hands-on look at fun, effective & engaging lessons using iPad apps to teach computing.
Provide examples for assessment opportunities through creative uses of apps for AfL & summative assessment which allow the pupils to reflect on their learning.
