2022-23 School Year :: August 22, 2022
Onward and Upward!
Thank you all for coming to our K-1 and 2-5 Open Houses. Thank you to the PTO for supplying cookies and ice cream to families while we visited classrooms. It was so nice to see all the families coming to support their children in their learning and life. If I didn't get a chance to meet you, there are many more opportunities headed our way.
This week we continue our NWEA testing. These tests give us a snapshot of how your child is doing in reading and math. We take the information and use it to help us enrich, reteach, and support students in their learning.
Mrs. Morton and I have gone to every room to discuss bus safety and character traits. Our students should know how to be safe getting on and off the bus, riding the bus, and staying away from the bus when they exit. The classes were such good listeners!
Congratulations to UTSC for being top 10 in the state and #1 in Porter County schools for Spring 2022 IREAD-3 scores! What an amazing accomplishment!
It's another great week coming our way! Happy learning!
~Mrs. Hankins
A Note from JSE Kitchen
We have noticed some students are bringing lunches from home and then deciding they like what is being served at our cafeteria and buying a lunch. We will make sure if they have a home lunch, they are not also purchasing a school lunch unless you tell us it is okay to do so. Lunches are no longer free from the state, so if you did not plan on your child buying lunch, we understand this can throw off a budget.
Remember, there's been a change in Food Service. ALL lunches are no longer free. This is different than the last two years. There is assistance for Free and Reduced pricing if families are need.
Food prices are as follows:
Breakfast $1.25
Lunch $2.25
Milk $0.50
Thank you,
Brandy Christenson, kitchen manager
