Google Chrome Apps
Google Apps for Education gives teachers and students the opportunity to create, share, and collaborate on content anytime with an Internet connection. Besides Gmail, Docs/Drive, Sites, and Calendar there are so many more great Google Apps to use with your students. Below I will share a few of my favorite finds so far. Visit the Chrome Web Store to find more apps that will fit your classroom needs.
LucidChart
LucidChart lets users create, share, and collaborate on diagrams, flowcharts, etc. Students and teachers can sign in using their Google Apps accounts.
Aviary for Google Drive
Aviary is a photo editing app that access photos and images directly from Google Drive.
WeVideo
WeVideo is a free video editor. A folder is created in Google Drive for video storage. Students and teachers can collaborate on the same video project.
Useful Websites and Apps
Wolfram-Alpha
Wolfram-Alpha, according to its website, is a "computational knowledge engine". I have found this site very useful when researching information about countries around the world, but it can do so much more. Use this site to complete a number of conversions, calculate a math problem, map out vocabulary words, research the nutritional value of different foods, etc. This helpful resource is also an app available in many app stores. Currently students in the high school have access to this app on the iPod Touches.
WatchKnowLearn
YouTube is a great site to find educational videos, however there are so many other great educational video sites. WatchKnowLearn is a great educational video resource that organizes video by content and age appropriateness. Visit my website to find more great educational video websites.
