Benfield Family Newsletter
February 11, 2022
Greetings Benfield Families!
Thank you to everyone who attended the Winter Concert. The children gave an outstanding performance and made us all proud! It was an amazing feeling to have families back in the building enjoying the work of our children.
Benfield Bingo Night
The PTO is hosting a Virtual Bingo Night on Friday, February 25th at 7:00 p.m. Please click here for details about the evening. This is a free event for Benfield Families, so plan to join our hosts, the Amazing Gonzalez Family! The registration link is in the flyer.
In addition, we have the Sizzle Shack back with delicious dinners to purchase, so you do not have to cook that night. Please click here for details on how to order your family dinner.
Unpredictable Weather Time
With Spring just around the corner, the weather can be very unpredictable. We go outside as much as possible, so be sure students have cold weather gear for recess.
As the weather turns warmer, please remember that clothing must cover midriff, bare chests or backs, and cannot show bare skin between upper chest and mid-thigh. Flip-flops are also highly discouraged as they present a safety hazard and inhibit play during recess.

iReady - Homework
I-Ready is a personalized Instructional tool that provides students with lessons based on their individual skill level and needs. Students can learn at a pace that is just right for them. AACPS has a goal for students to engage (Time on Task) in i-Ready 30 – 45 min, per subject (reading and math), per week. This can be done at home and in school.
Now that we are in the second semester, grade level teams will be revising iReady homework expectations for Benfield students. We are asking that students complete the reading portion of iReady at home for homework. Your child should complete 30-45 minutes of iReady reading at home during the week. They can choose to do all at once, or a few minutes several times during the week. Students will continue to do iReady math in school, but they are able to do this at home as well.
