From the Desk of Pastor Paul
Dear Friends,
First of all, thanks for your prayers as our family enjoyed several weeks of vacation as well as travel to and from Delaware for beach time with family! It was a wonderful time of family fun and relaxation with great weather and time for renewal of mind, body, and spirit. One misadventure on a jet ski left me with some nasty abrasions on each knee, but other than that we had a wonderful time! Prayers as well for all those enjoying vacation time and travel over these middle weeks of the summer.
As we gather for worship on this final Sunday in July, we continue our interactions with different characters of the Old Testament. This week we turn to Joshua 7 (although you can get a complete picture by reading Joshua 6 – 8 together) and the story of Achan. It is the story of what happens when one person chooses to disobey the covenant agreement of the entire community. It is a story that, in these days of radical individual autonomy and “I Did It My Way” mindset, reminds us that our individual choices and actions have consequences for the families, groups, and communities we participate in together.
Also on Sunday, we will enjoy our first Summer Movie Night. “God Is Not Dead” follows a Christian college student as his faith is challenged by a philosophy professor who declares that God is a pre-scientific fiction. The movie begins at 7 p.m. in the lower level of the new building. Please plan to join us for this evening of thought provoking entertainment and fellowship!
See you Sunday,
Pastor Paul
