Superintendent Update - April 30, 2021
Dear Lawndale Staff and Families,
This week, our final two grade levels returned for in person instruction! I commend the dedication of all LESD staff who have worked to prepare our campuses for the successful return of all grade levels.
As our campuses return to life, it is crucial that we all continue to follow the safety protocols outlined in the Safe, Clean, Ready! Plan to keep us all safe and healthy. These protocols include wearing a well fitting mask, maintaining safe distancing, and practicing good respiratory and hand hygiene.
Parent Empowerment Summit Opportunity
One of the goals in Lawndale Elementary School District's Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP), is to improve parent and student engagement. We empower parents to be equal stakeholders who are knowledgeable about district and State policies and become active members in the decision-making process. Attendance at informative workshops by professional organizations is a powerful tool to build the capacity of parent leaders.
We are inviting you to the Virtual Parent Empowerment Summit for African Americans and Other Parents of Color that will be held on Tuesday, May 25th from 9 am - 1 pm. This event is hosted by the California Association of African American Superintendents and Administrators (CAAASA). We have limited spaces, so spots will be reserved on a first come, first served basis. The focus of the conference is for African Americans and other parents of color, but all parents are welcome to attend.
Please complete the online form here if you are interested. The district will complete your registration and send you a confirmation email. If you have any further questions, please contact Travis Collier, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services at travis_collier@lawndalesd.net or (310) 973-1300 ext. 50035.
