A Message from Mrs. Rittmiller
Greetings Families,
*Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow*
We have a lot of wonderful snow once again! The students have enjoyed building, playing and creating this winter in the snow and it will continue! Thank you for continuing to send layers of clothes, boots, snowpants, and all the winter gear.
As we move into March, we will be preparing to share strengths, areas of growth as well as goals with our conferences. Students and staff are creating memories with author visits, theater, museums and so much more. Our Bridges "Being There" experiences are one thing that students talk about a lot. We look forward to another great month for students to grow in their social emotional well being and academically.
Monday, February 27th, we will have a lunch menu change: Cheese Quesadillas, Carrots, Green Peas, and Chilled Pears.
Thank you for continuing to partner with us. It definitely takes a village!
Working together,
Jody Rittmiller, Principal

A note from our Counselor, Mrs. Olivo
In my February counseling lessons, we focused on GRIT or not giving up, even when something is challenging or frustrating.
All students learned about GRIT during my February counseling lessons. Students learned:
- Grit is when you don't give up, even when things are challenging or frustrating. It is working towards a goal even when it is hard.
- Anyone can become smarter, stronger or better at something. But it takes hard work and practice.
- When we do something challenging or frustrating it can exercise our brain and make it smarter and stronger.
- Mistakes and failures help us learn and do better.
All students practiced different teamwork challenges with their classmates to practice GRIT and how to work through challenges and frustrations. Here are some ideas to continue to build your child's GRIT at home (ideas from Big Life Journal):
- Discuss their dreams and goals: Talk about the steps that would be required to reach their goals. Encourage them to create a dream board.
- Share stories of gritty famous people: Encourage your child to study famous people (and their failures). These examples can show that perseverance through failure can lead to great success!
- Ask, "What's the hard part?": When your child feels discouraged or tempted to give up, ask them, "What's the hard part?" After you have identified the challenge together, brainstorm solutions.
- Share your passions: Show your child excitement for activities outside of working and parenting. Devote time to developing these passions.
As always, please let me know if there are ways that I can be supporting your child and their social and emotional well-being. I am available by email or phone (email is usually the easiest way to get a hold of me since I am split between two buildings).
Thanks so much!
Annika Olivo, School Counselor
All School Meetings - Student Talents
Friday mornings when we have All School Meetings, know that all family members are invited to the gymnasium from 8:20-8:45 am. We review the life skill, hand out spotted slips and recognize students or staff for the amazing things that are going on!
This is also a time where we feature student talents. If your child has a talent that could be shared with the school community, please have them sign up with their teacher or in the office.
