Author Visit

We have several visiting authors coming to GHE in November! Polly Holyoke will be presenting to our 3rd - 5th graders. Pre-order forms for their books came home this week and will be due back mid-October. Books that were pre-ordered will be autographed by our visiting authors.

1st 9 Weeks Report Cards

The first nine weeks is actually only eight weeks (wow!) in order to have the second nine weeks end before Winter Break. This means the end of the 9 weeks is TODAY (Friday, October 14th) and that report cards will be ready for you to view next week on Wednesday. We know the progress reports just went out for the 6 weeks!

Please keep in mind that this is the first nine weeks, which means that there aren't typically a ton of standards covered. We spend the first 1-2 weeks of school really building routines, procedures, and relationships in our classrooms. As the year progresses, you will see more standards assessed. Also keep in mind that in some areas, such as math, reading, and writing...these are skill-based areas and need constant practice and repetition for mastery. They are not expected to be mastered until the end of 3rd grade.

Please let us know if you have any question regarding the report card!

Class Dojo: Growth Mindset Episode 5

This episode discusses how your brain is a muscle!

Take a look at the article below. It highlights how GCISD hired an energy consulting firm to help us with our energy savings and in 18 months we saved $618,000!
