Report Cards/Parent Teacher Interviews
Our school will be sending home report cards on November 23, 2018. Parents, please note that report cards are no longer being emailed. To access your child’s report card, please visit the HSD Parent Portal at http://powerschool.hsd.ca. If you have already created a Parent Portal account, login and access the report card on the date it becomes available. If you have not yet created an account, we encourage you to do so at the above-listed link. By creating a Parent Portal account, you will have access to an official digital copy of your child’s report card, and other important school/student information.
Currently, the default settings for your child are to receive printed report cards. Electronic copies of Report Cards can be accessed by setting up your Parent Portal account. If you would like access to electronic report cards in the Parent Portal, including archives back to June 2016, click the REPORT CARD menu item and click the SWITCH TO ELECTRONIC REPORT CARDS button.
Note that by clicking the button, you will no longer receive the printed copies from school.
For those children that do not have an associated/connected Parent Portal account, alternative arrangements will be made to send the report card (printed copy) home with the child.
Our first Parent-Teacher Meeting date is on November 29, 2018 from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM. This year, we will give parents an opportunity to schedule 10 minute interviews with teachers of their choosing from 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm. Then, from 6:30 pm – 7:00 pm is for parents who want to drop in to visit with teachers but do not want to make a scheduled appointment. Parents will schedule these meetings using an online conference manager. Parents, who do not have access to the online scheduler can call the school to book appointments. More information and details will be sent home shortly about how to sign up for Parent-Teacher Meetings.
If you have any questions regarding report cards, please give me a call.
Sincerely,
Andrew Mead

Our School Survey
Dear Parents or Guardians:
Re: Tell Them From Me/OurSCHOOL Survey for Grades 4 to 12 Students, 2018/2019.
As part of our ongoing efforts to increase school effectiveness, Manitoba Education and Training will continue with the implementation of an online student survey called Tell Them From Me/OurSCHOOL (TTFM/OurSCHOOL). This is a well-known survey tool which gives students the opportunity to express their thoughts anonymously in terms of
various school improvement initiatives.
TTFM/OurSCHOOL was created by The Learning Bar (TLB) and is based on the work of Dr. Doug Willms, a researcher who is well-known nationally and internationally for his work on the development of educational monitoring systems. To obtain more information, please refer to TLB’s website at www.thelearningbar.com .
Each student receives a randomly generated username and password, so that their identity and responses cannot be linked. All students from Grades 4 to 12 will be given the opportunity to participate in the survey, but their participation is not mandatory.
The survey questions have been specifically designed for elementary students (Grades 4 to 6) and secondary students (Grades 7 to 12). The provincial survey will require approximately 30 minutes to complete, or 5 minutes for the bullying component, 15 minutes for the career-related questions, and 10 minutes for school-level questions.
Students will be asked questions that will assist the school in determining whether bullying is occurring, what types of bullying students may be experiencing, and where and when bullying is taking place. They will also be asked questions related to career exploration and planning.
Our school will participate in the fall of 2018.
If you have any questions, please contact the school guidance counselor, Mrs. Holly
Storey at 204-320-9488.
Thank you for your support in this important initiative.
