Principal's Message
Chapman's Read Across America Spirit Week was a huge success! From wacky clothing and hair on Wacky Wednesday to crazy socks on Friday, Chapman students clearly have spirit. We were thrilled to cap it off with a visit from our Kindergartners who got to tour the building with 5th graders tour guides and read with their 3rd grade reading buddies. What a fabulous week!
Protecting our Transgender Students
I hope that all of you got the memo from our Superintendent about ensuring the safety and rights of our transgender students. At Chapman, we are fully committed to protecting our transgender students and making sure they are learning in an environment that is safe and free from discrimination. If you or your student need any additional support, please reach out to us.
PTA Coffee
Chapman's first PTA coffee was a rousing success! The PTA will continue to sponsor coffee on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month. We hope you can join!
EnergyStar awarded to Chapman
The EPA recently awarded Chapman, and our custodian Janice McDow, an EnergyStar for the efficient and clean use of energy. We were one of only nine schools in PPS to receive this award. Thank you Janice for all of your hard work!

Counselor's Corner
Chapman families lead busy lives. From the morning school bell to evenings filled with homework and activities there is much to be done. A reliable morning routine is a good way to get the day off to a good start. Listed below are some ideas for making mornings a bit easier.
- Have a practice school day morning on the weekend. Make a silly game of getting ready for a pretend day at school. What would you wear? What breakfast would you have? Where would you find your homework, backpack, and coat?
- Snap photos for a customized morning success guide. What happens first, next, and what is the last thing you do before leaving the house? Post your success guide somewhere visible such as the refrigerator.
- Be prepared to set fair limits when the going gets tough. Helpful phrases may include:
- “Breakfast will be on the table until the timer dings.” Timers help kids learn that schedules require reasonable start and finish times.
- “My car is leaving when the timer dings. Will you be wearing your clothes or your pajamas to school today?”
