** FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK **

"It's a Great Day to Be a Bulldog"

Dr. Zalis, former superintendent of Rolla Public Schools, coined the phrase, “Everyday is a great day to be a Bulldog.” This phrase still rings true today.

We have had a fantastic start to the school year at Rolla High School. I can’t express how proud I am of our students, faculty, and staff. The students have continually conducted themselves with dignity and respect. Our faculty and staff have done an outstanding job of getting to know their students and building an educational foundation that will serve our students well for the remainder of the semester.

September will be a big month at RHS. Fall activities are in full swing. Our biggest activity night takes place on Friday, September 8, with our annual Bulldog Pride Night in conjunction with our first home football game. Bulldog Pride Night is a great evening for our community as we come together to celebrate our students and the community in which we live. The activities will begin at 5:30 p.m. with more than 100 businesses, vendors, and organizations in the lower parking lot next to the football field.

Rolla High School values the partnership of our parents in the education of our students. Our counseling department will be hosting parent informational meetings throughout the year. The informational meeting for the month of September will be “Senior Success Night”. This meeting will take place on September 20 at 5:30 p.m. in the RHS Lecture Hall. There is a virtual meeting option for “Senior Success Night” on September 21 at 7 p.m.

It’s an honor to have the opportunity to work at Rolla High School. Not only is everyday a great day to be a Bulldog, but also everyday is a great day to be at RHS. We are going to have a great year.

Sincerely,

Corey Ray, Ed.D.

Principal

** RHS DRAMA DEPARTMENT **

RHS Drama Presents the Musical Comedy Murders of 1940

The creative team responsible for a recent Broadway flop (in which three chorus girls were murdered by the mysterious “Stage Door Slasher") assemble for a backer’s audition of their new show at the Westchester estate of a wealthy “angel.” The house is replete with sliding panels, secret passageways, and a German maid who is apparently four different people—all of which figure diabolically in the comic mayhem which follows when the infamous “Slasher” makes his reappearance and strikes again—and again. As the composer, lyricist, actors, and director prepare their performance, and a blizzard cuts off any possible retreat, bodies start to drop in plain sight, knives spring out of nowhere, masked figures drag their victims behind swiveling bookcases, and accusing fingers point in all directions. However, and with no thanks to the bumbling police inspector who snowshoes in to investigate, the mystery is solved in the nick of time and the “Slasher” unmasked—but not before the audience has been treated to a side-splitting good time and a generous serving of the author’s biting, satiric, and refreshingly irreverent wit.

Join the Rolla High School Theatre Department as they present The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940. Shows are September 29th & 30th at 7:00 p.m. and September 30th & October 1st at 2:00 p.m. in the Rolla Middle School Auditorium. Tickets are available at the door or in advance at bit.ly/RPSDRAMATIX .

** ATTENDANCE OFFICE INFO **

Why am I getting an attendance notification?

We have a new and improved attendance routine! When a student is marked absent and the attendance office doesn’t receive a reason, parents are sent an email making them aware of an unexcused absence. Parents may reply to the email (make sure you include your student's full name) letting the office know why they are absent. Parents can sign up for notification on the parent portal, as well. Instructions on signing up are posted below.
