Soft Start
We are excited to introduce a “Soft Start” to our morning routine at school. We will open the doors for our students to enter the building between 8:25 - 8:40 am. Students may enter through the front door or the door near the mobiles. We will begin the "Soft Start" routine on the first day of school.
After entering the building, students will go directly to their classroom where they will be greeted by their teacher. This new procedure will help students establish a gentle start to the school day and allow for teaching and learning to begin promptly at 8:40 am when the tardy bell rings. If you arrive at school after 8:40, please walk your child(ren) into the office and sign them in.
We believe a soft start will provide a less stressful start to the day and help put our students in the right frame of mind for optimal learning. In addition, we hope the “Soft Start” will help support a more welcoming environment - no more standing in line outside in the cold! We will implement this new morning routine on the first day of school and plan to gather feedback from all stakeholders at the end of first semester to see how it is working for everyone.

Tylenol Administration
Parents must provide a district medication order, signed by their Healthcare Provider, in order for their student to receive Tylenol at school. DCSD will no longer have a standing physician order for elementary students to receive Tylenol (acetaminophen). This is based on guidance from CDE in accordance with the Colorado Nurse Practice Act. The state recommends schools operate in a manner similar to a hospital setting; no medication, even an over-the counter one, can be given without a doctor’s order.
Students that are experiencing headache, musculoskeletal pain, cramps, or toothache (and/or orthodontic pain) will still be sent to the health room for evaluation. We will also encourage students to drink plenty of water.
If you have any questions, please contact Brandee Tudor in the office!
