Back to School & Finishing Semester 1 Strong
When students return we have 16 days left in the second marking period (first semester). It is vital that students finish this marking period strong. For more information on how semester grades (the grades that show on your transcripts) are calculated please see FAQ #1 on this document. This will show you what your grade possibilities are for the first semester.
We want to remind students that attendance is vital to your success. Students are expected in-class, on-time, every period. First period starts at 7:45 a.m., students are expected to be in their seats ready to learn when the bell rings.
Academic Support Opportunities
- Teacher Support- Students (and parents) should always start with their classroom teacher to get support. You can see when teachers are available for support by clicking here.
- Global Concerns- If parents have more global concerns about their student in terms of academics or their social-emotional state they should reach out to their counselor or grade level administrator.
- Peer Student Support- James Hubert Blake High School provides a variety of opportunities for students to get support from their peers. Many of our honor societies provide opportunities for students to get support in their classes during their lunch periods. You can see when and where these sessions take place, as well as the staff member who coordinates them by clicking here.
- Homework Club and Math Lab- We also provide an opportunity for students to receive help after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:45 until 4:30 in the media center. Our Homework Club and Math Lab are coordinated by Ms. Bamfo, Mr. Clarke, Mr. Hicks, and Ms. Wang. At these sessions, students can receive support from staff as well as student tutors.
- Bump It Up Saturdays- We offer an opportunity for students to get additional time and support with their work through our Bump It Up Saturday sessions. These sessions run from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Blake HS on January 11, February 22, March 21, April 18, and May 6th. Students who need transportation can catch buses from either White Oak Middle School or Briggs Chaney Middle School. Buses will leave those schools at 7:30 a.m. and return at 11:30 a.m. Students attending Bump It Up should come with work to do. You can contact Mr. Brown with additional questions or concerns.

Districtwide Boundary Analysis Meetings
The MCPS Districtwide Boundary Analysis is an initiative designed to provide a comprehensive assessment of Montgomery County Public School boundaries by analyzing factors such as:
