Attention: Rising 6th Graders
MPMS Summer Reading Program
Summer Reading Program
We can say without hesitation that the best way to become a better reader is to spend time reading, and we wanted to encourage your rising middle school child to continue reading over the summer. As data shows, spending just 20 minutes reading each day will make a dramatic difference in your child's success in the upcoming school year. To help encourage your child, the teachers and the media specialist are beginning a summer reading program at MPMS. Rising 6th grade students are being asked to participate in the Cabarrus County Public Library's summer reading program.
How To Get Started
All you have to do is go to the closest Public Library and register your child. The program this year is entitled Build a Better World and runs from June 9th- August 12th. We recommend registering early, so they can complete the program in time. After completing the program, students MUST KEEP the reading packet to show to their 6th grade ELA teacher. During the first week of school, your child should bring in their summer reading log that has been signed by a Public Library employee. Students will get extra credit for their summer reading in their 6th grade ELA class. Thank you for joining us in encouraging your child to discover the value and enjoyment in reading!
