It's Been a Great Week at Hoover!
REPORT CARDS WILL BE DELIVERED BY EMAIL TODAY!
Just a reminder, that all CCSC Elementary Schools will begin emailing report cards. Report cards will be sent electronically to the email address in Power School that you used at registration. If you need to update your email address, you may do so by logging into Power School at https://powerschool.cville.k12.in.us/public/, or using the update email link on the CCSC website. Student grades are always available in Power School for parents to check at any time. Weekly and daily emails of student progress may also be selected in your Power School settings.
STATE TESTING SEASON
The second semester means it's time to start thinking about state assessments. The following windows have been set for elementary state assessments:
IREAD March 16-April 3, (3rd graders, Parents of any 4th or 5th graders who need to take IREAD will be contacted by the school)
ILEARN April 20-May 15 (Grades 3-8)
*I AM April 6-May 15 (Only administered to Special Education students who have this alternative state assessment identified in their individual education plans.)
Please schedule any appointments outside of these windows, or after 12:30 PM on testing days.
Notes from the Nurse
Welcome to the New Year! Most of you set some sort of New Year’s Resolution around this time, and usually it involves more exercise!
This is a great time to help your child find ways to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle as well:
1. Get unplugged: Limit time spent playing games or watching TV. Make a goal to spend at least one day a month without watching tv, playing video games, or checking your phone in the evening.
2. Find activities you can do together as a family: clean up, cooking, setting the table. They grow up so fast- spend as much time with them now as you can.
3. Don't make excuses for skipping out on exercise: If it’s too cold, you can use YouTube videos that lead children in an exercise program.
4. Read a little more: not only is it a good way to spend time together, but reading with your child or to your child, will also help them grow as readers. Even 15 minutes at bedtime makes a difference.
5. Eat well: Moms are usually the ones that start the latest fad diet plan. Try committing to eating healthy meals as a family to help hold you accountable. It takes away for the extra time spent trying to cook separate meals for you and your family!
6. Be kind: remember children watch their parents actions and learn from you! Set a good example of how children should treat others by displaying that behavior at home.
Wishing you all a safe and Happy New Year!
