Grandparents Day was a GREAT success!

Picture Retake Day!

Picture Retake Day is October 1, 2015. If you received a picture proof or packet and would like another chance, please have your child bring the picture packet to the photographer on October 1st. If your child did not bring home a picture packet or proof, they may have been absent on Picture Day (which was September 25, 2015). So in that case, make sure the teacher knows that you would like them to take a picture on October 1st. You can still order packages online. If you would like a retake order form or have any questions about this, please contact Pat Lines in the TCE office.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Parent/Teacher Conferences this year at TCE will be a little different! We are all conducting Student Led Conferences! These conferences allow your child to be an important part by having them share their accomplishments and help create goals for the year. Teachers will be sending out directions on Wednesday, September 30th for parents to sign up electronically for a conference date by Monday, October 5th. Conferences this year will take place from Monday, October 5th through Wednesday, October 21st. We can’t wait to celebrate your child’s learning with you!

Fall Fundraiser

Information for the Fall Fundraiser has been sent home. This is a "no sell" fundraiser and all donations will go directly to the school! If you would like to donate, please return the completed form that was send home last week with your child and include a monetary donation. You can also donate online at: httsp://paypal.me/TCEPTO

Thank you SO much for your support!

We Are Learning...

Good readers are problem finders and problem solvers. We notice problems in their reading and use a variety of strategies for figuring out tricky words and fixing up meaning!

We are busy launching our personal narratives! We will be writing about small moments in our lives and will add leads to our writing to get our readers hooked. We will also write with emotion to make our stories more interesting!

Word Study

Word study in 2nd grade includes spelling, phonics, and vocabulary development. Next week we will continue to review some of the important sounds and patterns in our language, helping us to build a foundation for reading, writing, and spelling.

In math this week, we will wrap up our study of Addition Strategies and begin a new unit studying Subtraction Strategies. In this unit, students will understand multiple strategies for subtraction. Important vocabulary words for this unit include: fact family, inverse operation, and difference.

Social Studies

In Science we will continue our unit on Sun and Moon! This is an exciting unit in which students will explore the moon phases, and its effect on Earth!
