V's BTN Speech
The anti-hero character V of the movie "V for Vendetta", in his speech to the inhabitants of London, asserts the notion that one of the most powerful weapons a person can possess is words and that they can be used extensively in order to cover the truth. V supports his thesis by stating that the country is filled with "Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression" and that "in (their) panic (they) turned to the now high chancellor, Adam Sutler" who "promised (them) order" and all demanded in return was their "silent, obedient consent", keeping the people from using their strongest weapon. V's purpose for this speech is to enlighten and inform the citizens of London in order to bring their attention to the corrupt practices taking place within their own government and that it is no longer acceptable. In a calm and stern tone, V aims to motivate the people of London that are unable to see the reality in what is going.
