FMS BLAST
April 4, 2022 REVISED
SPRING BREAK: APRIL 11-18, 2022. SCHOOL RESUMES ON TUESDAY, APRIL 19, 2022. Enjoy the time off, Jaguars!
Dear Parents:
As we prepare for the upcoming state testing it is extremely important that students bring their chrome books FULLY CHARGED on the testing days. Failure to do so can impact their ability to perform well on the assessments. We want all our students to do well. They should also bring the chrome book charger with them so that they can avoid running out of power during the testing sessions. Your help in making sure they are rested and ready for the testing is extremely important. If students do not bring their chrome books you will be contacted to bring their chrome book to school immediately. Please avoid any disruption to your schedule by helping them to be fully prepared. The dates of testing are listed below:
CAASPP Schedule
Tues. April 26th ELA CAT
Wed. April 27th CAST (Grade 8 only)
Thurs. April 28th ELA PT
Tues. May 3rd Math CAT
Thurs. May 5th Math PT
Mon. May 9th i-Ready Reading
Tues. May 10th i-Ready Math
Your help in making sure your students are in attendance on these above dates is also greatly appreciated. It will avoid your child having to be pulled from classes to make up these assessments. Please help us to help your child have the best opportunities to perform well on their exams.
Thank you for your support. Have a wonderful week and a great spring break.
Sincerely,
Dr. Terri Daniels
Parents we want you to be aware: Lately we have noticed that some students are leaving campus after being dropped off at school in the morning to go to Target or other areas off campus.
Students need to understand that FMS is a CLOSED CAMPUS. Once they arrive, they are NOT to leave campus at all. Leaving campus once arrived, even if school has not started, is not allowed. This is a serious safety concern. Please reiterate with your child they must remain on campus.
Thank you.
IN PERSON ELAC MEETING APRIL 6TH AT 6:00 P.M.
We are excited to have our next English Language Advisory Committee meeting in person so parents of our English Language Learner students can meet and mingle with each other.
Please plan to join us in the FMS school library this evening. We encourage families to bring a traditional cultural dish (dessert or appetizer) to share and the school will provide coffee and drinks. We look forward to seeing you there. For more information, please feel free to contact Dr. Daniels at the school office.
Thank you.

Upcoming Science Unit for Students in Grade 7 P3 Positive Prevention Plus
Dear Parent/Guardian:
The Folsom-Cordova Unified School District (FCUSD) has a comprehensive program of instruction in family living and sexual education (Positive Prevention Plus) for students in 7th grade which begins on April 25th, 2022. .
This Sexual Health course is guided by several state laws including teaching that abstinence from sexual intercourse is the only 100% effective protection against unwanted teenage pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, and Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) when transmitted sexually. Students will also gain knowledge to help develop healthy attitudes concerning adolescent development, body image, and relationships. Sexual Health instruction content is required by Education Code 51933.
FCUSD encourages students to communicate with their parents or guardians about human sexuality and respects the rights of parents or guardians to supervise their children’s education on these subjects. Please refer to the full version of this letter which is posted in your 7th Grade student's science teachers Google Classroom and FMS Teacher Website for information regarding how to preview the written curriculum, opt out a student, and list of content/objectives that will be covered during this unit.

SPIRIT WEEK STARTS MONDAY, APRIL 4TH!
Spring Fever has Sprung!
With this we notice a lot of students pushing boundaries. We have now returned to the pre-covid lunchtime procedures. All students will report to the cafeteria for the first half of the lunchtime break before being excused from eating to outdoor activities. Students need to be aware that they are still expected to follow school rules, keep the campus clean, and be respectful Jaguars.
We recognize they are excited for the end of the year, but we also need them to be aware this is NOT the time to break the rules. All rules and expectations are listed in the Student/Parent Handbook which is posted on the school website. Reviewing these with your child at this time to remind them of the behavior they should be exhibiting on campus is appreciated. There are still 32 days left of the school year!
HOMEWORK CLUB AND WEDNESDAY TUTORING COMING TO A CLOSE SOON:
Please note that the T/Th Homework Club and the Wednesday Math Tutoring will end the week AFTER spring break.

We are hopeful these opportunities will be available again next school year. If your child attends any of these sessions, please know that this will be the final week for this opportunity for the year.
I am Laura, the new school nurse here at Folsom Middle School. I will be here on Monday, Thursdays, and Fridays. In my free time I enjoy hiking, meditating, and overly elaborate cooking projects.
