BOOK FAIR OCTOBER 22 - NOVEMBER 1
The Enchanted Forest Book Fair is coming October 22nd - November 1st! We will be open during the Fall Festival from 6-8PM! If you are interested in volunteering any time during the fair please contact Mrs. Gamble in the library!
Scholastic has a bookfair app to Enhance your Scholastic Book Fair experience! Not sure if a book is age appropriate for your child? Simply scan a book cover or barcode at the Book Fair to find out. Get additional book details such as author videos, award winners and podcasts. Plus, view recommendations for similar titles. Add titles to a wish list - many are available for purchase.
Get more information about a book such as:
- Reading levels
- Age and grade
- Book summary, price
- Videos, podcasts, awards
- Recommended or similar titles
The Scholastic Book Fair app features the ability to create a wish list of titles. Many books are available for purchase, subject to inventory availability.

I will be accepting pictures for the slide show only until November 1st, after that date I can't promise they will make it into the slide show. I know many of you last year commented that you wanted to get your pictures in this year. Be sure and get me those pictures. Remember I prefer not to have the original, if your student brings the original, please make a color copy with the information on the back.

MUSIC NOTES
Congratulations to Big Lake Elementary's Choir for their performance in the Combined Choir Concert at Houston Middle School! Way to represent BLE!
Reminder - 5th Grade Band students will be performing in the Veteran's Day Celebration November 8th. We look forward to seeing you there!
COLD GEAR FOR RECESS
Please note the following agencies sell gently used winter gear and some are even free.
Thrifters Rock on Palmer/Wasilla Hwy.
Biships Attic in Palmer has reasonable priced winter gear.
Turning Leaf in Wasilla which on Wednesday has $1 coats and snow pants and 50 cent shoes.
The green building in Big Lake, Community Clothing Closet, is open on Wednesday and all items are free but shop early as winter items go quickly.
There is also Value Village and Salvation Army in Wasilla.
Last but least do not forget to shop at the schools winter clothing drive which will be held at the Fall Festival.

5th GRADE FUNDRAISER FOR HOMER TRIP
5th graders are selling Jazzy popcorn to help pay for their field trip in May to Homer until October 19th. Anyone interested in buying popcorn can contact their favorite 5th grader. If you don't know a 5th grader please contact a 5th grade teacher, who will add your order to a student in need of support. There are 8 different flavors of popcorn to choose from: caramel, extra butter, cheddar cheese, white cheddar, dill pickle, jalapeno cheddar, jalapeno ranch, and jazz fest. Each bag is $7 and 50% from each sale will go directly towards the student's trip, Thank you for your support!

Orders are due by Thursday, October 18. Orders will be delivered the following week.
BOX TOPS
This Friday will be the last day to send in Box Tops for the October contest. It is a tight race between third and fourth grade! Keep on Clipping! The next contest will be in January.
Please remember to check the expiration dates on your box tops. Soup points are not the same as Box Tops, that program is no longer going, so please do not send those in. Thank you!

PTO EVENTS:
Our winter gear drive is going on right now. It’s a good time to go through those closets and donate gently used winter items. There is a tote outside the front door where you can drop off your donations. The winter gear swap will take place during Fall Festival!
Fall Festival is on Friday, October 26, from 6-8pm. We are taking candy donations now and will be looking for baked goodies. 32 oz and larger bags will earn you 10 free tickets and smaller bags 5. Please put your child’s name and teacher on the bag!
Trunk or Treat is fast approaching! It will be on Halloween, October 31, from 5:30-7:30pm. It will be held at the Big Lake Lions Rec Center in the parking lot. We are looking for people to host a trunk! Dress up and decorate your vehicle to distribute treats.
The next general meeting will be November 9. All are welcome!
