Principal's Message
Welcome Home Hoover Huskies!
I extend my appreciation to all the families who responded to our survey, the collection of this data was and is crucial for our planned return to in-person teaching which is scheduled to occur by April 8th at the latest. If you did not get a chance to fill out the survey, pls express your choice to your teacher during conferences time and do so by Wednesday March 17th at the latest. We do need to know by then so we can move onto the next tier in our plan. In order to better serve our families, we have organized our planning as follows:
TIER 1: (Timeline: Now)
Preparing the physical plant
Surveying teachers and families on return decisions
Working with teachers on return schedules, preferably by grade level
TIER 2: (Timeline: Week of 3/15 and 3/22)
Finalize schedules
Teachers prepare classrooms
Admin determines rolling start dates and times
Admin plans orientation days for the week of March 22
TIER 3: (Timeline: Week of 3/22 and 4 /5)
Classes return to in person learning
Two weeks of “settle in time” for students, families and teachers to get accustomed to new schedules and protocols
I am happy to inform that all Hoover teachers have agreed to return to teaching on campus! they are all very excited with the possibility to see their students again! even if it is in reduced numbers. As we return to in-person teaching though, we must continue to be mindful of keeping with the San Mateo Guidelines for a safe reopening (Health and Hygiene, Facial Covering, Physical Distancing and Limited Gatherings) in order to avoid major virus outbreaks.
As we move into tier 2, we will be finalizing schedules and sharing them with our students and families, we will also be planning for orientation sessions (the week of March 22nd) where you will receive information regarding schedules, school support, campus ingress and egress, as well as information on district approved COVID testing. This testing is available to all Hoover students attending in-person instruction, families may opt out, but we do highly recommend it as it increases the sense of safety for everyone on campus.
The school will also be mailing information to all parents who have chosen in-person instruction, please make sure that you read it thoroughly and return the section that needs to be signed back to your teacher on the first day of class.
I would like to finish with a friendly reminder that there is a still a travel advisory in effect and that if you travel more than 150 miles outside of the Bay Area, you are required to quarantine for 14 days upon return, so pls stay safe and if you can, please stay around the area.
Director Carranza

SPANISH TRANSLATION/TRADUCCION
¡Bienvenidos a casa Hoover Huskies!
Director Carranza

Thanks Ange (8th grader) for sharing your memories and wisdom with the rest of the Hoover team!
My name is Ange Vail and I am currently in 8th grade at Hoover. I have been at Hoover for a really long time ever since preschool, so about 10 years. This school is where I grew up and learned a lot of things. There have been many memories that I have experienced in my years there. The best moments were when we would all get together. For example, festivals, dances, field trips, field day, and other activities always brought great memories. A suggestion that I would give to 7th graders and below, is to work hard on your learning because education depends on your future for example your jobs. Also when you don’t know something or you're stuck don’t be afraid to ask for help from the teachers because they are there to help you. Some plans and dreams that I have are to graduate high school and university because I want to become either a scientist or a fashion designer. In addition I want to be more outgoing and be more adventurous.
Thank you so much again, Ange Vail
