Welcome Back Panthers!
Let's Go Panthers!
Happy Sunday Panthers! I hope everyone has had a great break with family and friends! I hope everyone is ready to work hard, ready to stay focused, and are ready for three great weeks leading up to the holiday break. There are many events, activities, and athletic contests leading up to the break. I strongly encourage you and your family to take advantage of all the amazing things going on at NPHS!
My other reminder obviously is that these three weeks are extremely important as we make our way to the end of the semester when we return from break. Students need to be doing everything they can to either catch up or stay ahead of all their classes. Our staff is ready to help and support all of our students. Now is the time to increase the focus and intensity in the classroom. I am listing all the reminders on what students can be doing each and every day these next three weeks.
How can students stay the course and continue to be successful? Here are a few suggestions, for all students and parents:
- Students should be building a daily academic routine, as part of an overall time management plan.
- Starting September 6, students should be taking advantage of our in-person, individual tutoring overseen by our NPHS teaching staff. CANVAS Course cards will be sent out this week to all NPHS students.
- Students should be communicating with their teachers on a consistent basis with any questions, support needed, or access to content.
- We always recommend that students and parents should start with the teacher for questions related to courses students are taking.
- Students need to be participating in athletic teams, co-curricular groups, clubs, and interest groups that inspire them in order to find the right balance between school work and school involvement.
- Students are able to access our new Wellness Center in room E3 which is staffed by mental health clinicians. More detailed information will be sent out to staff and students.
Technology Reminder for Students
As we make our way through November, this is a great time to send some updates related to Chromebooks and the care of all mobile devices.
- Students are expected to bring a charged mobile device and charger each day to school.
- Students can go to room A2 to get help with their school-issued devices on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Lunch
- If a student does need help with their device, they need to go to the main office and get a hard copy of the technology incident form or click on this link:
- Students also need to go online and complete a help ticket by clicking on this link: https://conejousd.incidentiq.com/login/v2
- Students need to use their Learn account login and password when submitting the help ticket
Student Devices: Reminders To Take Proper Care of the Devices
Student Devices-Students need to close files and folders, Browsers, and Logoff/Sign Off daily.
Below are some best practice recommendations to keep your Laptop or PC working at optimum performance. At the end of the day please complete the following steps:
1) Close all documents and folders daily.
2) Close all web browsers daily (Google Chrome, Edge, Firefox). Google Chrome is the recommended Browser for all District needs. Classlink/Canvas, Webmail, ZOOM, & Q.
3) Log off or Sign Out of your device daily. This is important.
4) Shut down the device. Twice a week. Open-Start (lower-left corner Windows Flag)-Power-Hold down the shift key-Shutdown.
5) Please leave the system turned off for at least one minute.
6) Turn On the system.
7) Should the system require updates and/or a reboot. Verify that the AC adapter is connected.
Please do not close the lid and walk away from the Laptop, Chromebook, or PC. This will place the device in sleep mode. We have seen connections fail on occasion.
Progress Report Time
With the latest progress reports out, now is the time for our students to really work hard and develop that consistent academic mindset and establish those important routines that will lead to successful outcomes in all classes.

Student Attendance and Welfare Updates
Reporting Absences
If your student is going to classes for any reason, please call the attendance office at 805-499-3645. La linea en espanol 498-3676 ext. 4000. All absences must be reported to the school by the student's legal guardian. Emails from students are not acceptable to report student absences. Students who miss class are still responsible for any missed work from their teachers and must communicate with their teachers to receive all instructions on how to complete any missing assignments or assessments.
Excessive Absences (12 days of absence, excused or unexcused)
Students will be put on an attendance contract, may be required to appear at a SARB meeting, and may require a doctor’s note to excuse any future absences.
Truancy is defined as being absent without permissible clearance within 72 hours. 3 truancies will result in disciplinary action and may affect a student’s grade.
Tardies
- Students are marked tardy when they are not physically in the classroom when the bell finishes ringing. It is expected that students arrive to their classes on time in order to minimize disruptions and for them to get the most from their classes.
What happens if a student is marked tardy?
- 1st and 2nd Tardy: Warning from Teacher
- 3rd Tardy: Detention and Parent Contact from Teacher
- 4th Tardy: Referral to AP of Attendance
- 5th Tardy: Attendance Contract
- 6th Tardy: Saturday Work Study/potential loss of privileges
