Visual Art I And Videography
Welcome to the class!
I am your instructor, Lisa PreFontaine. I am a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Art and Kendall College of Art and Design. I live in Western Michigan currently with my husband and two teenage children. This class should be lots of fun! Some of you may have taken classes from NCVPS before in either Blackboard or Moodle. Here is how to get started in the new platform Canvas. You can also watch the Screen-0-Matic. Directions are similar for Art I and Videography. Please note Calendar is not correct, so use Course Schedule with Due Dates in the Course Documents Link. Print out this page for your reference of due dates:
CENTER OF COURSE "SPLASH PAGE" (Click Image to see larger)
The "Splash Page" is the first page displayed in the course when you log in. It is where you will see my picture in the middle, just for reference. You should take note of a few things in the center of the main page of the course(Splash Page), Under my picture. Notice the Square colored buttons with images on them.
From left to right you will see:
- Daily Announcements - You should check this daily! I will be posting important information about due dates, shout-outs to students, and other learning activities to help extend learning in your class.
- Getting Started- This is where you will start the course! Do all activities and assignments.
- Course Documents-Here you will find the course syllabus and course schedule with due dates.
- Modules- This is where you will go each time to find the learning modules. A new module will be released each week.
- NCVPS Virtual Support- This is where you will go to find technical help from NCVPS tech support. If you have questions about course work, you should contact me, or the Peer Tutoring Center (PTC). This location is just for technology issues.
- Peer Tutoring Center- This is where you can get help from peers. They can help you with questions about course work, or just offer support to keep you on track.
- Enable Mixed Media- This is an important button to click on now, it will tell you how to enable mixed media in Canvas so that you can watch videos in canvas. I would like you to take full advantage of all the course has to offer, so be sure to learn about how to enable mixed media in your browser.
RIGHT OF COURSE "SPLASH PAGE"
At the top you will see things coming up on the calendar, and recent feedback on assignments and forums.
LEFT OF THE COURSE "SPLASH PAGE"
There are 4 buttons here on this side that will take you to other locations. Here are the button names and what they will take you to.
Home- This will take you back to the main "Splash Page".
Grades- This is where you will go to see your grades and comments from your teacher.
Modules- This will take you to an expanded view of the modules, this makes it easier to pick up where you left off. Be sure to make note of the slide you stopped at during your last class session. This way you can quickly pick up where you left off.
Collaborate Ultra- This is where you will go to join our weekly live classes! See below.
FAR LEFT OF COURSE (Under YOUR profile picture)
Here is what you will find if you click on each of these items.
