Friday Message
Friday, March 3rd
Principal Updates
Hello PUE Families,
Happy Friday! The week has quickly flown by, and we are already in March! Track 1 will trackout on Tuesday, 3/7. We look forward to having Track 2 back on Wednesday, 3/8 and hope that Track 1 has a relaxing trackout.
If your child hasn't come home yet to talk about how amazing our book fair is, they will soon. Our PTA has done an awesome job of preparing and staffing our book fair. We cannot thank the many parent volunteers that we have had this week come in to help run the fair. Your child should have brought home a preview of available books that you can review together. Every class will have an opportunity prior to the fair ending next Friday to attend and make purchases at the book fair. While cash is accepted, we encourage you to create an eWallet account (Create an eWallet here) to limit the amount of cash that your child has to carry around. Also, make sure to read all the info in the PTA section of the newsletter about the book fair.
We also have visitors in our art class this upcoming week. Thanks to our PTA, we are hosting two guest artists that will help every student in the school contribute to the creation of a global mural that we will place in the atrium once it is complete.
Lastly, best of luck to our Odyssey of the Mind team that will compete on Saturday at Wakefield HS. We know our team is going to do amazing and represent PUE well!

Read to Achieve- 3rd Graders
The Excellent Public Schools Act became law in July 2012 and was implemented in the 2013-2014 school year. This Act is referred to as the North Carolina Read to Achieve Program. The goal of the State is to ensure that every student can read at or above grade level, students continue to progress in reading proficiency, and have the ability to read, comprehend, and apply complex texts. Students in third grade have several opportunities during the school year to meet the Good Cause Exemption. Your child took the Beginning of the Year (BOG) test in July/August. If your child scored achievement level 3 or higher on the BOG3 Test, the score will satisfy the promotion requirements of the Read to Achieve Legislation.
