Pam's Pages
Week of August 29th - September 2nd
First Week Recap
I saw so many wonderful things this week. So many happy students who were engaged and on task, and already doing some serious learning --- despite our building issues. (1st grade roof problems, and that pesky fire alarm going off!!!) The first grade restrooms ended up being partitioned off while the district was working on the roof issues. We also survived the first day of school with indoor recess.
Thank you so much for keeping our students calm and helping them to feel safe.
Since the construction is ongoing, we will still give parents some leeway and will not mark students tardy until around 8:15 or 8:30 a.m. for the next few weeks.
Unfortunately, our week ended with finding out that we have to lose Amy Pierce to Thornwood. Our numbers in Kinder are too low to have 4 teachers. We hate to lose her and are planning on having her return to MWE next school year. Individual calls were made to the parents in that class, and a letter went home to all of the Kinder parents. Amy will transition to Thornwood next week and will begin her new class on Thursday.
Voice Mail
Please be sure the voicemail on your classroom phones have been changed. When parents call and leave a message, they should hear YOUR message, instead of the teacher who was previously in that classroom.
If you need assistance with getting this done, please see Shirley Labiosa.
TEXAS TEACHER EVALUATION & SUPPORT SYSTEM
T-TESS is for all classroom teachers, PreK - 5, Specials and Special Ed.
It is not for paraprofessionals, librarians, nurses, diagnosticians, counselors, or speech pathologists. If you are not sure whether you are being appraised with T-TESS, please see me or Lynne B.
If you are not being appraised with T-TESS, your goal setting process is the same as last year.
Self Assessment
There is a T-TESS Self-Assessment Rubric that you need to fill out and submit to your appraiser. Please check with your team leader if you are not sure who your appraiser is this year.
Initial GSPD
GSPD stands for Goal Setting and Professional Development. This is what you use to set your goals. Remember to set 1 to 3 goals based on your self assessment. Please do NOT submit to your appraiser.
Goal Setting Meeting
You will receive a calendar invitation from your Appraiser for this meeting and you will need to bring your computer to this meeting. At this meeting, you will submit your goals to your appraiser. We will print out copies for both of us to sign.
PTA
Be sure to join our PTA. It would be great to have 100% participation as a show of support from the school.
You should have been able to join and pay online. You can also pay by check or cash. If you have any questions about the signup or if you run into any snags, please let Shirley know and we can get someone from PTA to come in and help us.
You must be a PTA member to be reimbursed for your purchases.
Spirit Night - Chick FilA
Our first Meadow Wood Spirit Night of the year will be at Chick Fila on Dairy Ashford, on Tuesday, August 30th, from 3:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
The is a school (not PTA) fundraiser, and our school gets a portion of the proceeds. These funds go directly to us and help us fund workshops and other items. We get a larger percentage of the proceeds when our staff members attend and sign in.
We ask that teachers go to a minimum of 2 of these. The link to sign up is below.
