Important Reminders
Welcome to the weekly newsletter! I am super excited to be the long-term substitute while Mrs. Reiber is on maternity leave. Her official return date is May 1st. Please read this letter each week to learn about important updates in our school and to find out what your child is learning about!
- There will be only math homework this week due to AIR testing.
- AIR Testing starts this week for third grade. The AIR Reading tests will be this Friday, April 13 and next Monday, April 16. The AIR Math test will be April 23rd and 24th. Please make sure that your child is on time, gets a good night's sleep the night before, and eats a good breakfast before testing begins!
- The next online-only due date for Scholastic Book Orders is Friday, April 20th. The class code is NDJXN. Please order online through Scholastic Books.
Upcoming key dates:
- The 3rd grade field trip to the Akron Civic Theatre is next week on April 18th.
- MAP Testing is coming up soon for third grade. The MAP Reading test will be on Tuesday, May 1st. This will also be the first day that Mrs. Reiber is back. The MAP Math test will be the following week on Monday, May 7th.

What we are learning in Room 12...
If your child is going to be absent, please let me know in advance if possible, so I can send make-up work with them.
- Math - We are working on our fractions unit (Unit 5). Please have your child continue to practice multiplication and division facts at home!
- Reading - We are dedicating this week's reading time to focus on our writing unit.
- Writing/Spelling - In writing, we are continuing to talk about opinion writing. Our focus this week is using details to support our opinions. There is no spelling this week due to AIR testing.
- Social Studies - We are currently working with Mrs. Kerscher learning about matter!
