#BeBCMS #KindnessWeek was a success!

A huge thank you to our elite staff and scholars for all their efforts to make the first ever all school field trip and Kindness week a GIANT success! Each day, we had a dress up theme that corresponded with a different performance task. The feeling and the vibe in the schoolhouse was filled with ExExExCitement! We know that when scholars are excited to come to school that is only going to enhance their learning.

A huge thank you to Mrs. Waddell for her relentless efforts to get this coordinated and organized! We also had many parents donate additional funds and community business partners as well help us kick off our first ever all school field trip.

Stay tuned for more exciting events, including a May 21st All School option for Wild Adventures through Kelly Tours!

Yearbooks are on sale for $40.00 Cash or Check-- due to Ms. KP! Checks made out to Bryan County MIddle School!

We have a busy week at the schoolhouse with baseball, soccer, and track all week as well as our Winter Sports Celebration on Wednesday! Friday is our all school PBIS Q3 celebration as well! Q4 begins next week and report cards will be sent home. We are having an Academic Celebration based off the Q3 grades. Stay tuned for more details regarding that!

Notes from Ms. Raeburn (The 10)

March: the month of LUCK

In March, my notes section will focus on the upcoming testing season

The Georgia Milestones testing is right around the corner. While we prepare for this test all year, we really focus on the type of questions and format of the test in the next month. Beginning next week, all WIN classes will participate in #ProjectLevelUp. This project is curriculum that we designed and piloted to enhance the work we do in WIN to prepare for the test. Some of the work we will do during this time will be to understand what exemplar constructed responses are and practice writing them with rubrics. It is important that our scholars know exactly how to earn Proficient and Distinguished on GMAS and we know this dedicated work and curriculum will help support this work!

Other notes:

If you are interested in learning more about how to support your child with GMAS, you can check out this link here:

Click on the grade of your child and look through the resources available.

We would love to begin collecting snack donations for GMAS time! If you are willing and able to donate any of the following for your child's grade level team, please send it in to the main office labeled. Thank you.

Donations needed:

  • Fruit Snacks
  • Snack Crackers (Individually Wrapped)
  • Granola Bars (any kind)
  • Mini Waters
  • Hard Candy (Jolly Ranchers, Mints, Cinnamons, Etc)
  • Gum

We will have a celebration for all scholars who earned Proficient and Distinguished on last year's GMAS and we will have a whole school kick off on Friday April 27th.

GMAS this year is scheduled to begin Monday April 30th and run through May 11th.

We are very fortunate at BCMS to be almost 1:1 which allows us to test all our scholars in the morning!

We were able to do a full school RI (Reading Inventory) last week. Ask your child what their “number” is. The Lexile Stretch Band of where we need scholars to be is 997 for 6th grade, 1049 for 7th grade, and 1097 for 8th grade. A Lexile score measures a scholar's reading ability level. We will test again before GMAS and we will set goals for all scholars! If you would like a copy of this report, please contact us and we will send one home with your child.

TRIBE Shop is still open! See Ms. Shelby for GEAR and of course, we are always collecting box tops!

Thank you for being proactive and for supporting our school and our passion work! I am proud to be your principal and would love to hear from you! Please know that if you have a concern or if you hear something that doesn't feel right, contact me! eraeburn@bryan.k12.ga.us or 912-626-5050 or 912.255.0630 (Cell).
