The Week at Remynse

October 12-15

The 1st Annual Remynse Cardboard Challenge

I wanted to take some time to talk about the Remynse Cardboard Challenge that was held on Saturday. Let me just tell you that it was a blast! The cafeteria was filled with about 50 students and parents who were all working together imagining a plan and creating through trial and error. It was amazing to see the conversations happening between the students and the parents as they worked to problem solve their way through their challenging idea. Even if the children had a difficult idea in mind, the parents worked with them to make their idea a reality. I think there was a great sense of accomplishment when the students and parents were able to reveal their final product. We had cool robots that were constructed, a truck with working wheels created solely from one box, a concession stand, a maze for bugs, and a snack dispenser created at the event. These were just some of the wonderful creations that are on display in the cafeteria. Please take some time to stop by the cafeteria tomorrow to show your students what was created. I am so proud of all of our students, families, and staff members that were part of this event. Thank you to Mrs. Lowe and Mrs. Kruckemeyer for having an wonderful idea and making it a reality. A special thank you to Ms. Rodriguez and Family, Jennifer and Glen Reed, Ms. Seabrook, Ms. De La Torre, Mr. and Mrs. Tran, Ms. Mendez, Ms. Adams, and Mr. Lowe for all of your help with the event. I know our students loved the event so much that they were asking when we could have another Cardboard Challenge. My son had such a great time making his creation and working with Mr. Lowe that he was very persistent (had a small tantrum) about picking up his creation from the school. Guess where I was at 9:00 pm on a Saturday night? My son is a happy camper now and wants to collect boxes for our next event.
