Message from Principal Rios

Greetings Eagle Warriors,

This Friday, September 18, 2020, ends the first grading period. Please make sure to attend office hours, designated tutoring, and reach out to your teachers regarding any missing assignments. Also, a friendly reminder to use your school-issued computers when logging into your live class sessions with Google Meet or Zoom.

You are encouraged to:

  1. Continue to show up on time to your online courses
  2. Continue to collaborate with your classmates
  3. Remain engaged with all your classes
  4. Stay connected with LCPA by reading this newsletter out loud to your parents
  5. Stay focus on your long term goal which is to pursue higher education. College is not a dream, it's a plan.

Attention! Great opportunity for female high school seniors who are interested in applying to engineering majors!

From September 24th to November 22nd, the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) at UC Davis is hosting a 10-week long mentorship program to support female and non-binary high school seniors who are interested in applying to engineering majors. There will be weekly sessions with UC Davis College of Engineering advisors, faculty, current students, and alumni, as well as smaller group mentorship sessions with current engineering students to help answer questions and provide individualized support. The program will run from September 24th to November 22nd and is open to high school seniors who identify as female or non-binary.

LCPA Student Behavior Expectations for Distance Learning

LCPA believes in supporting the safe and responsible use of all online and digital technologies for teaching and learning. During this period of distance learning, all students are responsible for continuing to practice positive digital citizenship by protecting and respecting their peers and teachers. We all must understand, practice, and model positive and productive behaviors when we are online. Because a remote learning environment is still a classroom, school behavior norms and rules are to be followed just as expected in the regular educational setting/classroom.

Announcements for Seniors:

1. CSU Eligible Students (2.0 and above)!

In order to prepare for the upcoming CSU application process, Ms. Alvarez is hosting a

workshop on Tuesday with some important information.

When: Tuesday, September 15th from 2:30-3:30pm

Where: Google Meet Link: Join with Google Meet

What: Review how you can prepare for the CSU application process now!

Important documents to collect, account creation, and more.

If you are unsure what your GPA is, please check your student transcript or reach out to your Academic Counselor, Mr. Martinez for assistance.

2. Change in times for the Monday & Thursday Afterschool Workshops!

Based on student input, the new after school workshop time will be from 2:15 – 4:15pm.

This will be effective Monday, Sep 14! Additional workshop dates and times may be added

or modified if necessary.

3. Next Workshop Date and Time

Monday September 14th @ 2:15pm via google meets. Here is the link:


The focus of this workshop will be to continue working on the UC Application. We will be

working on the Academic History section of the application and continue on as time

permits. UC bound students (3.0 or higher), please make sure to attend! Thank you to those who were present in the first workshop!

4. Gates Scholarship

The application deadline is Tuesday, September 15! Please reach out if you have any

questions, or need assistance with the application or you need someone to look it

over! Thank you all!
