CELEBRATIONS
Great things are happening at WCS!
The K-8 Functional Life Skills classes have started swim lessons at the Bath YMCA. These classes will happen every Thursday until the middle of April. Students will be working on skills, trying new things, and practicing for the upcoming Special Olympics!
NO SCHOOL MONDAY
There is no school on Monday, January 15th as we honor the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
SNOW DAY REMINDERS
Remember: on days when RSU1 has a 2 hour delay, there will be No Pre-K, or AM Y-CARE. If your phone number has changed, be sure to let the school office know so you will not miss out on any important cancellation calls.
A LETTER FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Greetings Wildcat Families,
Now that we have snow on the ground and seem to be experiencing a more active weather pattern, I felt it important to offer some clarification on the changes to our district snow day policy. Dr. Manuel communicated in November that the first two snow days of the year would be traditional snow days with no academic expectations. However, on the third day and beyond he will announce that it is a distance learning day. On these days, students should work on the assignments that have been pre-arranged with their teachers. It should also be noted that on these days virtual meetings will still occur as long as all parties involved have power.
Currently, we have not had any snow days. The two days off in October for the tragedy in Lewiston have been forgiven by the State, and the day before Christmas that involved Woolwich and two other schools is still under review. Long story short, the next two snow days will be traditional snow days. Once these are used, I will send a follow up email to indicate that the next one will be a distance learning day. As always, I appreciate your continued support of WCS. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Take care,
Mr. Libby

WEEKLY WELLNESS WITH MR. HUTCHINGS
THINGS TO TALK ABOUT
- Coach Reno stopped by WCS this week to speak with students in grades 5-8 about the BMS Wrestling program. This sport is open to both girls and boys. CLICK HERE for more information!
- Now that there's snow on the ground, boots and snow pants are a must! For P.E. class, please remember to send your student in with sneakers to change into. Boots are hard on the gym floor, and make it harder for your student to participate in all activities.
- The race for the Purple Penny is ON! Here are the standings for week one: in 3rd place we have Mrs. Pols' second grade with $50.61 raised. In 2nd place we have Mrs. Sample's Kindergarten class with $50.78 raised; and in 1st place we have Ms. Moran's 5th grade with $69.71 raised. We have 2 more weeks to go for the Pocket Change for Charity drive, so keep the coins coming!
- Parents of 8th-graders! The first meeting for parents and students to discuss the upcoming Washington, D.C. trip and the Auction fundraiser will be on Thursday, 1/18 at 6pm.
