Whiteley Wildcat Update
October 25, 2019
It was a fun week at Whiteley! In the first part of the week we enjoyed an assembly from our Hoffman Estates Fire Department. Our third grade students, enjoyed a trip to a local pumpkin farm and used those pumpkins for their investigations with parents. Some of our first grade students published their writing pieces on See Saw for their classmates for parents to view. Our AIME classrooms took trips to either the arboretum or the police station. As you can see it was a busy week for our students.
Student Pick-Up
We are asking our parents to please follow our procedures for student pick-up. We want to ensure the safety of our students, parents and staff members. Recently, parents have been parking in the lot and having students walk through the traffic to get in their cars. Please refrain from parking in our lot. We are also going to ask that parents remain in the vehicles while in the pick-up line. We really appreciate your assistance with this process.
Halloween
There was a reminder letter sent home this week about our Halloween celebrations. Please remember that costumes must be school appropriate. According to our district food policy our parties will be free of any edible items. Students will also not be able to pass out any edible treats to their peers. We are hoping for great weather so we can show-off our costumes at the parade.
PTA
The 2nd annual Wildcat Dash is Sat Nov 9th at 8:30 am. Come run/walk the scenic lakeside route or add on an exciting scavenger hunt along the way! You can turn in your registrations to the school office or register online at frankcwhiteley.memberhub.store. Hope to see you there!"
Veterans’ Day
Veterans Day is Monday, November 11th, and we would like to honor our family members, friends, and members of the community who have served in our armed forces while teaching our students the significance of this very important day. We would love to invite all of our Veterans to FCW to enjoy a music performance and into the classrooms for a short meet and greet and/or Q and A session with students to share a glimpse of what being a member of the armed forces and a veteran means.
Who: Veterans of the FCW Community
What: Music performance with a Meet and Greet in classrooms to follow
When: Monday, November 11, 2019 @ 10:00 a.m.
Where: Frank C. Whiteley Elementary School
Why: To celebrate and honor our Veterans while providing an authentic learning experience for our students
RSVP: If you or a family member would be interested in joining us, please RSVP via email to Mrs. Lota at lotav@ccsd15.net.
We would like to arrange for our student body to hear from a few of our veterans and we are in need of some help. We are looking for a few veterans who would be willing to speak to our students as part of our event- just a few words or thoughts. If you or someone you know would be interested in sharing a few words with our students as a whole, please let Mrs. Lota know. We greatly appreciate your help and believe it will create a memorable experience for everyone.
