Science STAAR Testing
May 13th – Math Retakes
May 14th – Reading Retakes
May 15th - Science
Our campus will be closed to visitors on May 13th, 14th and 15th due to STAAR testing. There will be no parent lunches on these days. Please do not schedule any appointments on your child’s testing day. There are several things that you can do to help your child be successful on this test.
- Make sure your child gets a good night’s sleep the night before the test.
- Make sure your child eats a healthy breakfast the morning of the test.
- Have your child arrive at school on time that morning so he/she does not feel rushed.
- Finally, send your child to school that day with a hug and words of encouragement.
Please note, ABSOLUTELY NO CELL PHONES WILL BE ALLOWED IN TESTING ROOMS. Students in possession of a cell phone/electronic device including cell phone watches in the testing room will result in disciplinary action and the student’s test could be voided. In the morning we will collect cell phones and place them in the office. Students can get them after all testing is done. Thank you for your support in preparing your student for the STAAR test.

5th Grade Awards Assembly
On Wednesday, May 29th at 8am, we will host the 5th Grade Awards Ceremony. This is a formal occasion like the symphony, so nicer clothes are an expectation. We invite family members to come and celebrate all of the accomplishments our students have had throughout the year. Students should bring regular clothes to change into for the Strikz party.
5th Grade Farewell Walk
On May 30th our 5th grade students will take a traditional farewell walk through the school beginning at 2:30. They'll walk through all of Smith as the K-4 students cheer them on. The walk will end as the students exit the 3rd-5th dismissal doors and are greeted by parents making a "tunnel" outside of the school. If you would like to participate in this tradition, please be outside the school on the 3-5 pick-up side by 2:30. You can take pictures and are free to take your child home after the farewell walk. Please do not park in the pick up loop. See you there!
