November Chill Skill
Each month the school counseling department will highlight a chill skill (aka a coping skill). We understand that high school can be full of challenges and sometimes you may need a way to help calm you down in class. This skill can be used when you feel anxious, sad, angry, or any other uncomfortable feeling. Since we're going into a month all about being thankful the chill skill for November is writing a gratitude list. Whenever we experience an uncomfortable feeling, it sometimes to helps to focus on the good things we have in our life. You can include anything you're grateful for on your gratitude list like your friends, family, and pets or even something super simple like your favorite flower or tv show. If you feel like you need to chill in class this November try making a gratitude list of 5 to 10 things and see if it helps you out.
If you ever feel like you need to talk to someone, please reach out to your school counselor or to one of the school social workers. We're here to help. If you feel like you are going to hurt yourself or someone else, see one of us immediately.
The national suicide hotline is 988.
