Kindergarten Class News
October 9-13, 2017
Thank you to the Hendricks Fire Department for coming to teach us about fire safety and showing us your trucks!
Daily 5/Reading
We have successfully learned all five rotations of Daily 5 and were able to meet in a couple of small leveled reading groups this week! Please practice reading and writing these sight words at home:
- I, can, the, we, see
The letter "Ss" was our letter of the week. Next week we are going to begin discussing word families starting with the -am word family. This would include words such as Sam, cam, ram, bam, etc. Feel free to start discussing these words at home! Our key skill for the week was identifying the key details of the story, We also worked on finding details in the illustrations that may not be shared in the text.
Math
The students learned about so many different patterns this week! Color, shape, size, growing, transfer patterns...they learned them all! We put our knowledge to use in small pattern stations as well as on the IXL app on our iPads.
Science
We are enjoying the discussions on how certain animals are alike and different as well as how plants and animals are alike and different. Animal movements are also fun to talk about because we get to practice the movements too!
Social Studies
We learned about and assessed ourselves on our country's symbols and leaders as well as what it means to be a good citizen this week.
