Mrs. Walters' News
Dear Bushnell Elementary Families,
One month down folks! Things are going really well at Bushnell. Thank you to our families for doing such a great job masking up your children and sending them to school without being able to step foot in our building. It means so much to all of us that you trust us with your little ones. I am so happy every day we get to be together!
To my virtual families- I check in with our teachers who are working with your children often. It sounds like things are going well in that realm as well! Teachers are building great relationships, even while not meeting in person. Thank you for picking up books and schoolwork from our building to support the learning at home!
Fall sports has started up at the high school. Tonight is the first varsity football game versus East Grand Rapids. However, spectator attendance at athletic events is limited to two (2) spectators for each athlete. Only those spectators that are listed for attendance are able to attend at this time. Watching the games and supporting the Red Arrows is still an option with a subscription to live streaming at https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/schools/lowell-high-school-lowell-mi
Do you have a child birth to age 4 at home? Check out this website for information about how to become part of a learning network for your child! https://www.kentisd.org/early-childhood/bright-beginnings/
Today we celebrated how well the children are doing with their bear necessities of being respectful, responsible and safe! I shared a video with each class and students had a special treat of gummy bears! The children are also earning Bushnell Bear Bucks (green tickets) they will use to pick items out of a treasure box once they earn 20!
Speaking of the treasure box, we could use donations of small items to include. Stickers, trinkets, happy meal toys, miniature slimes/playdough, etc. You are welcome to drop items at the office and they are always appreciated!
Today an order form came home for Bushnell Bear T-shirts! If you wish to purchase one for your kiddo, please send the form and money in by next Friday, September 25th!
Finally, the new mask requirements from the CDC and health department require that there be no holes in masks, including vents. Please have your child wear a mask that does not include the vent or mesh.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Erin Walters
Bushnell Elementary Principal
