Thank You for a Great 2022-23 School Year!
All in all, it was a great school year at Halmstad! Thank you for your ongoing support!
You will see below that our data tells us just how hard our students worked and just how dedicated our staff is! I encourage you to take some time to review the Needs Assessment included in this newsletter to see our year-end data. To view the presentation, click on the gray box 2022-23 Needs Assessment.pdf.
Thank you to our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and all who helped with our Summer Bash! It was a great time had by all! From the bounce houses, to the snow cones and everything provided families and staff reported that they had a very enjoyable time! Those who attended were also able to view the Art Club exhibit and artifacts celebrating 50 years of Halmstad! An interesting fact about the 50 year display, many of the artifacts were obtained from a capsule that was placed in the brick wall at Halmstad when it was being built!
You will see some construction happening if you go past Halmstad this summer. Our kitchen will be renovated throughout the summer with plans for completion around the time our students return. In addition to the kitchen renovation we look forward to a few upgrades inside Halmstad as well as the front driveway being redone!
Regarding the 2023-24 school year, please be sure to add the important dates, included above, to your calendars. Families do not need to attend both Back to School offerings. We are offering two days to provide families an option of what day works better.
The vast majority of our Halmstad staff is off for summer vacation. Feel free to reach out to Principal DesJarlais via email with questions. If you have immediate needs be sure to contact our district office at 715-726-2417.
End of the Year Fun!
Students engaged in a number of games and activities on June 5th including team tug of wear, decorating our front sidewalks in sidewalk chalk drawings, they danced, played some organized games, wrote in yearbooks and students going into 1st-5th grades were able to meet their teacher for next year while the 5th graders going into 6th grade enjoyed recess.
On June 6 we held an awards ceremony. Students were recognized for a number of contributions including student helpers, RCU, Safety Patrol, the Citizenship Award and more!
We also introduced next year's theme to our 1st through 5th graders! The theme for 2023-24 will be Surfing Into Success!
Report Cards and State Assessment Results
Report cards for all elementary school students will be available in Infinite Campus on June 8, 2023. Paper copies were sent home to families on June 8, 2023 as well.
State assessment results are mailed to families of 3rd, 4th and 5th graders over the summer. Schools will get the results of the assessment and review the data to help with planning for the 2023-24 school year.

Halmstad Pop Tab Collection
We collected 512.6 pounds of aluminum tabs this year…AMAZING! It is the second highest total ever. It came in second to last year’s total of 543 pounds and that was a result of collecting for 3 years. We had taken a pause in delivering them to McDonalds due to adjustments in school procedures. Way to go! Be sure to thank your families and friends who helped you collect. Keep collecting over the summer. Let’s aim to beat our all time high next year. Every tab helps families who visit the Ronald McDonald House. Halmstad makes a difference!
Bus Information
Specific information regarding pick-up and drop-off times for the 2023-24 school year will be sent to you in August.
