Phalen Flyer
PLA@George H. Fisher School 93
Greetings PLA Families,
Happy Friday! The end of the year is quickly approaching but our teachers and scholars are still hard at work. Teachers are spending time reviewing skills taught earlier this year and introducing new skills that scholars will learn more about next year.
Sixth Grade Parents- We have been contacting you about enrolling your scholar at JRPLA middle school. If you are looking for a school with many new and exciting opportunities, look no further. THE TIME TO ENROLL IS NOW! If you have already submitted your JRPLA application, no further action is needed. If you have yet to enroll your scholar we can help you. Give us a call at PLA@93 and we will send home an application with your scholar. You can call JRPLA at 317-552-1600 to request an application, or stop in at 4352 N. Mitthoefer Rd. for additional information and registration.
Our NWEA testing resumes on Monday. This is a benchmark assessment that measures scholar growth. It is taken three times a year to track scholar progress. We will conclude with NWEA testing on Friday, May 27th.
We have four copies of our yearbook remaining. If your scholar would like to purchase a copy, they are first come first served. The cost is $14 each.
We will have a mandatory parent meeting for all parents of scholars enrolled in Summer Advantage. Parents need to attend ONE meeting. There will be a virtual and an in-person option for parents to decide what works best for them. The in-person meeting is after school, on Wednesday May 25th at 4:00pm. Parents will enter through the front door and meet in the cafeteria. If you would like to attend the virtual meeting, please email Danielle Burchfield at dburchfield@phalenacademies.org for additional information. There is still time to register for Summer Advantage. More information can be found below.
Our Family Resource Spotlight this week provides utility assistance to low income families. Read more below.

Family Resource Spotlight-LIHEAP
The Energy Assistance Program (EAP) can help you pay your heat and electric bills! EAP is a federally-funded program through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) called the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). EAP provides a one-time annual benefit that can assist you with the high cost of home energy and can help if you are disconnected, or are about to get disconnected. However, an EAP benefit will not cover all of your annual heating and electrics costs, so you should continue to pay your bills regularly. Use the link to learn more.
