BEAU CHENE HIGH SCHOOL

CANKTON ELEMENTARY

Cankton Elementary students were “CAUGHT SHOWING CHARACTER” (Responsibility). The students were recognized and rewarded by Mrs. Cravins, the school counselor, as part of her Character Education Program.

CENTRAL MIDDLE

A pizza party was held today at Central Middle School to recognize students who are doing outstanding things with academics, good character, and have great attitudes about school. Students were nominated by teachers and administration. The pizza was donated by Paul DeRousselle, Eunice native, and Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot.

EUNICE CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION CENTER

The Eunice High School Booster Club acknowledged the generous donation of a golf cart to EHS Football team from Mark and Becky Daigle. Steve Bollich with Mudbugs Golfcarts painted it after it was rebuilt by our instructors Randy Turner, Danny Soileau, and Kerry Fontenot at Eunice Career & Technical School.

Eunice High School students gathered for prayer at the flagpole before school on Wednesday, September 26th. This event was sponsored by IMPACT, a student-led outreach organization.

Representatives from the St. Landry Parish Registrar of Voters office were at Eunice High School on Wednesday, September 26th registering students to vote.

Students at Eunice High School enjoy Café Wednesday. This reward is given on the last Wednesday of every month to students who are selected by their teachers for being outstanding in some way the previous month. They receive a “free” hour of their choice in the Renaissance café to play games, have snacks, and interact with community leaders.

“Grolee Elementary 4th Grade Math students in Mrs. Savoie’s Class completed a review activity called “Unlock the Box”. Students had to answer Leap like questions on specific Math standards, show their work and get them correct. After answering all questions correctly, they received 3 clues that would lead them to a 3 digit code to unlock their lockbox. If they figured out their code and opened their box they got a reward. Great lesson for engagement, accountability, teamwork, and learning!”

Ms. Kim Manuel’s 5th-grade student made dioramas showing how the early people lived. A hunt and how the early Americans used the animals they killed had to be included. A paragraph explaining what the scene was and why you felt the scene was important had to be attached.

Sunset Middle School cheerleaders participated in LSU Spirit Day on Saturday, September 22nd. They performed at halftime of the LSU vs Louisiana Tech game in Tiger Stadium.

Sunset Middle School Jr. BETA Club participated in the National Beta Leadership Summit. Three teams competed in Rapid Response, Lead Out the Box, & Service Snapshot. Thus qualifying them to compete on the National level held in Oklahoma City this summer. A fourth team participated in Officer Training preparing them to hold club officer roles.

Jailah R. placed first at Sunset Middle School in the Dare Essay Contest. Her essay was entered into District IV competition. She placed first in District IV and received a plaque and $200 award! Jailah is pictured with Deputy West SLPSD Dare Officer. Congratulations Jailah!

STEAM students in Mrs. Sylvester’s class at Sunset Middle School. exhibited outstanding teamwork and engineering skills today. They worked in groups to build towers using only a rubber band, 1 yard of yarn and 20 plastic cups. No touching the cups with their hands was allowed. The tallest tower was 64 inches tall!
