WMS Weekly Update December 9, 2022

Good Afternoon WMS Families:

-Next week, Grade 5 will have a presentation from LEGO Artist, Andre Grover, about his work in using LEGOs to create buildings in New England. Students will be invited to share what 'buildings' they consider to be 'landmarks' in New England, in the US, and the world, and will help the students explore why we consider some buildings to be 'landmarks' and overlook others. The presentation will have students reconsider why we sometimes do not think of older homes and public buildings in places like Attleboro to be 'important' or culturally valuable. The presentation will include a 'slide show' the artist's work in modeling public libraries, public schools, and 'regular' homes in LEGO. The artist will also bring LEGO bricks so the LEGO club students can try some of these techniques themselves. Thank you as always to the WMS PTO for helping facilitate.

- Please be aware that students dropped off before 7:30 AM are unsupervised; staff begin morning supervision at 7:30.

- Please reference the AM Drop-off/PM pick-up procedure on the WMS page. Do not drop students off in the lower lot.

The invitation is for the English Language Advisory Council (ELPAC) meeting on Thursday, 12/15 from 6:30-7:30. The meeting is being held at Central Office. Here is the ELPAC invitation link: https://www.smore.com/208tz
