Message from Mr. Ulbrich
- The weather has turned warmer and with it brings a host of DRESS CODE violations. Please help us keep students in compliance by reviewing the dress code with your student.
- DRESS CODE In general, dress styles and grooming should be moderate in nature and should not cause undue attention to the student and/or disrupt a positive learning atmosphere.
- 1) Students must use restraint in wearing jeans with holes.
- 2) Clothing must fit appropriately. No sagging pants. No exposure of undergarments. Undergarments must be worn under clothing.
- 3) Girls’ skirts, shorts, and dresses at the high school must be of reasonable length
- 4) Pajamas and/or slippers are not considered appropriate school attire.
- 5) The torso must be appropriately covered (i.e. no bare midriff, excess exposure of cleavage, cut-off T-shirts)
- 6) Students are not permitted to wear halter tops, spaghetti strap tops, or backless shirts/tops.
- 7) Shoes are required at all times. House slippers are not considered appropriate school attire.
- 8) No sunglasses are to be worn in the school building unless directed by an eye doctor.
- 9) No hats of any kind, bandanas, headwear, scarves, etc., are to be worn in the building. “Hat Days” may be designated by the administration.
- 10) Safety precautions may dictate certain types of dress for some classes.
- 11) When students take trips on behalf of the school, whether to athletic contests or on field trips, they should dress properly to present a positive image. 12) Jewelry/clothing promoting drug/alcohol/tobacco use or suggestive clothing shall not be permitted. No inappropriate slogans or items depicting a double meaning. 8 13) Clothing with group marking or clothing associated with a group or gang will not be permitted, i.e., Confederate flag, bandanas, shirts, sweats or coats, etc., of the same color or markings. This includes students who choose to dress alike in gang-associated colors/markings.
- 14) Blankets are not permitted in the school building.
- 15) All teachers should check their students for dress code violations and send them to the office if there is a problem.
- 16) Administrators shall have the right to modify specific items in these regulations as school situations and activities merit.
- 17) In situations where a disagreement exists as to whether or not the attire is appropriate, the building administrator shall have the final decision. Obvious violators may be sent home or assigned further discipline.
- AP testing kicks off this week. Students have been contacted with the schedule of times and locations for their tests. We are giving almost 1200 AP exams this year. It's nice to see students committed to such academic rigor! Contact Mr. Rutter if you have any questions.

Please check your student’s My Payments Plus account
Please note that the last day students will be able to charge a meal will be Thursday, May 10. After that date, students MUST have money in their My Payments Plus account to purchase lunch. This ensures the district can clear up end-of-year negative balances.
Please check your student’s My Payments Plus account at https://www.mypaymentsplus.com/ regularly to ensure there is sufficient money to receive a meal, as well as to clear up any possible negative balance.
Any money left over in the account will transfer over to next school year.
If a parent has a student who is graduating and has a positive balance of more than $5 left in the lunch account, there are two options.
The first option is to request a transfer of that money to any other student they may have at Pickerington Schools.
If a refund is requested the parent calls the Food Service Office at 614-833-3645. Refunds are done through the Treasurer’s Office. They are done once a month at the end of the month. Upon request we fill out a refund slip with the student information, refund amount, and the name/address of the parent so a check can be mailed out.
Refunds of less that $5 will not be processed.

Community Invited to TechConnect Showcase May 10
Technology and education go hand-in-hand in Pickerington Schools, and a special event planned for May 10 will give parents, students, and the community a chance to see first-hand how the district is creating 21st-century learning environments.
The community is invited to “TechConnect,” a first-ever event featuring students and teachers sharing how technology is being used to support learning in Pickerington Schools. The event will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 10, at Heritage Elementary, 100 N. East Street.
The event is for all age levels and will begin in the Heritage gymnasium with a technology playground, allowing all attendees to discover and ask questions about various technologies being used by our students and teachers. Featured booths will include how students are using drones, coding, Bloxels, Ozobots, Wevideo, virtual reality, Google Suite, Puzzlets, Digital Clue, student news crews, and more.
After the Technology Playground, guests will move to the auditorium to watch students and teachers present projects they have completed this year. Each student will use the stage to give a 5-minute presentation to present their project. Presentations will include students and teachers from all grades bands. Watch first graders using Ozobots robots, elementary students creating digital books, middle school students creating podcasts, junior high students designing digital portraits, high school students creating and annotating video, and more.
The Pickerington Police Department also will be on hand to present a session on digital safety in our community.
To the Class of 2019, 2020 and 2021:
Once again, we are offering an ACT Review course for those students who wish to have a more structured environment or class before the June 9th National ACT test. The ACT Review course is being held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 8 am until 4 pm in the Lecture Hall at PHS North. Students who register to attend the ACT Review class should bring their lunch/snacks and water/drinks as there will be no break for lunch.
There is a $90.00 fee for this ACT Review class and it is a strictly a service or option we provide to families and students and is not in any way required. All PHSN students will still have access to their free online ACT prep course on their Naviance account to prepare practice for the ACT. This program is available to all students during the school year and over the summer. The ACT Review course is just another option for those who wish to take a course with direct instruction in the ACT test content and test-taking strategies.
Attached is a flyer with information regarding how to register for the ACT REVIEW class.
Good Luck!
