No School on Friday, October 1

Our teachers need time to learn, too. School will be closed to students on Friday, October 1 so our teachers can attend professional development classes.

Conferences

Parent-Teacher Conferences are a great way to collaborate with your child’s teacher and learn how your child is doing in school. During the 15-20 minute conference, the teacher will review your child's current assessment data, work habits, and social behavior to establish learning goals for your child.

It's also a great time for you to ask questions or talk about any learning-related concerns. Input in the following areas would be helpful:

  • What does your child say about school?
  • What are your child's special interests/out-of-school activities?
  • Does your child have regular responsibilities at home?
  • Is there anything else we should be aware of that may affect your child's performance in school?

Creating a partnership with your child's teacher around your child's learning can make a big difference. Within the next week, your child's teacher will be reaching out to you to schedule a conference. You will have the option of in-person, a phone call, or a virtual meeting. Please make every effort to arrive at your scheduled time.

Should you prefer an in-person conference, the following protocols will be in place:

1. Conference participants will need to wear a mask as soon as they enter campus;

2. Conference participants will need to maintain 6 foot distancing when indoors.

Wednesday, October 6

Plan ahead so you can participate in the International Walk & Roll to School Day on Wednesday, October 6. More details will be coming your way.

Speaking of Safety...

Please practice basic safety behaviors when coming to and leaving school. The safety of our students depends on it! Use the crosswalks, watch your speed, and obey all traffic laws.

We Need You!

Paraprofessionals are needed in our Special Education Preschool Program. Croce is home to 6, and soon to be 7, preschool classes. If you are interested in working with 3-4 year olds, please consider applying for an open position. Generally speaking, the hours are from 8:15 a.m. - 2:45 p.m. More information can be found on the Employment page of the District's website.

Modified Quarantine

Through a partnership with the California Public Health Department (CDPH) and BayPLS (our District's mobile testing agency), we can offer a modified quarantine option which allows our students to stay in school after exposure to COVID positive contact.

More detailed information about Modified Quarantine can be found on the Croce Website. If this option is appealing to you, please complete the testing registration and consent form. Should a positive COVID case be found in your child's classroom, we will defer to the registration database. If you have pre-registered for Modified Quarantine, you child will be able to remain in school. Otherwise, you will need to pick up your child to begin the traditional 10 day quarantine at home.

Reflections

"I Will Change the World by..." is this year's theme for the National PTA Reflections program. Have your artist create original art in any (or all!) of the categories with the "I Will Change the World by..." theme in mind. Artists reflect on the theme to create their original art and describe that connection in their artist statement.

All submissions will be done virtually! Please read the Croce Reflections Getting Started Guide for directions on how to submit.

One student in each category and age division moves on from Leo Croce Elementary PTA to the Peralta PTA regional division. All students get honored and recognized at Leo Croce for their amazing work. It's a great way to recognize your students' artistic abilities!

Questions can be sent to: leocrocepta@gmail.com

Communication

Communication between home and school is always encouraged. During the school day, from 8:30 a.m. - 2:50 p.m., our teachers are busy working with your child/ren. If you have an urgent message that needs to be relayed to your child, please contact the school office. Otherwise, you can expect a response from the teacher within 48 hours of your email/phone call.

Universal Free Lunch

The following information has been taken from the livermoreschools.org website.

"Our Child Nutrition Department is excited to share that all students, regardless of family income, can receive a daily school lunch free of charge for all instructional days in the 2021-22 school year! While a free and reduced lunch application does not apply this year, completing the Alternate Income Form can result in students qualifying for additional benefits such as Pandemic EBT, scholarships for placement exams, and discounted internet service."
