BMS Blended Learning Information

Sixth and Seventh Grade

Blended Learning Groups

Students were assigned to Group A or Group B. These groups were determined by the alphabet and siblings at other schools. If you changed your mind after the original survey, this also affected group placement. Students can find out which group he or she has been assigned to by logging into their 1st Core Google Classroom. School hours will continue to be from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

We have had a number of requests from parents to change students from in-person to remote only or remote only to in-person. Most requests are to change to in-person. Schools will honor these requests through the first two weeks of in-person learning (until October 9th). Requests after that date will be handled on a case-by-case basis by the principal.

Arrival

Car Riders

As students arrive, students should remain beside their car to have their temperature taken and questions asked. Parents must remain in their car. We are asking that no student arrives before 7:30 AM. After being cleared, students may take advantage of the breakfast cart on the sidewalk and then follow all social distancing guidelines as they move to their first-period classroom. Teachers will be available to show students to their classroom location.

Bus Riders

Upon entering the bus, students must wear a mask. Students will sit one to a seat and should slide all the way across the seat to sit by the window. In some cases, siblings may sit together in the same seat.

On Campus Learning Week

When students are at school, they will follow their regular schedule from 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM following all safety guidelines throughout the day. At this time, lockers will not be issued to students.

Lunch

All students will go to the cafeteria to pick up food while the classroom is being sanitized. Please be aware that there will be no microwave available to students due to cleaning regulations so plan lunches accordingly. Upon arrival back to the classroom, students will wash their hands prior to eating lunch. In order to meet safety guidelines, students will not be able to carry on conversations while eating. Once students have finished eating and masks have been put back on, they will be encouraged to visit with their friends during the remainder of lunch. Teachers may opt to show a G-rated movie during this lunch period and some days teachers may elect to eat lunch outside.

At Home Learning Week

Students will have daily assignments in their Google Classrooms. Teachers will respond to questions through email during their planning periods. Please be patient as we balance meeting the needs of students both at school and at home. All classwork that is assigned for learning at home must be completed prior to returning to school the following week.

Dismissal

Bus Riders

Bus riders will be dismissed from their classrooms first and will make their way to the bus following afternoon announcements. Upon entering the bus, students must wear a mask. Students will sit one to a seat and should slide all the way across the seat to sit by the window. In some cases, siblings may sit together in the same seat.

Car Riders

Students will be dismissed from their classrooms to the carline. We ask that all parents please fill in both car lines completely when lining up. If you choose to park, please remain standing at your car while you wait for your student. Please do not walk up to the carline or stand on the sidewalk.
