The Importance of Self-Advocating
Digital learning is a great tool for teaching students to self-advocate. Students need to be in charge of their own learning. If they need help, have a question, or don't understand something, they need to ask for help. Please encourage your student to ask for the help they need.
Ways to ask for help:
- Email your teacher
- Join your teacher on Zoom during their office hour time
- Request a Zoom conference with your teacher at a different time that works for your family
- Ask a parent, older sibling, or friend
- For math - use the online homework "Need Help" or "Live Tutor" features
- Re-read the textbook or re-watch the teacher videos
- Look back at previous assignments for teacher comments on how you can improve
