Curriculum Corner
We will begin typing our narrative writing this week as I continue conferencing with our writers. I have read some great stories already! The goal is to finish these up by the end of next week so we can begin our persuasive writing second quarter.
Spelling
Spelling lists will be sent home tomorrow for a test 10/9. It wasn't going to be possible to meet with all of the groups this week due to Jog-A-Thon, so we will just extend our timeline!
Wordly Wise
We began lesson 4 this week. 4A & 4B are due this Friday and 4C & 4D will be due next Thursday, 10/8. The lesson 4 test will be Friday, 10/9.
Grammar
We will begin learning about adjectives at the end of this week and into early next week.
Indiana History
We finished reading Chapter 1 today with some work on finding main idea and details. We will begin our review of latitude, longitude, and relative location on Thursday and will plan to take a quiz on Thursday, 10/8.
Reading
We are having some great discussions about the book The Hundred Dresses. We will finish reading the book on Friday. We will review and discuss on Monday and will take a short test over the book on Tuesday.
Science
Science Fair has begun! We wrapped up our inquiry at the end of the last week and learned that Huggies hold the most water. If they weren't so leaky on my little guy as a newborn, I'd be tempted to switch! We talked about other factors, such as fit, cost, and softness that parents may also consider in addition to how much water they hold. Students picked their science fair topics on Monday and should be ready to run their first trials tomorrow. Science fair will take place on Friday, 10/9 at 12:15 pm. If you could please send in $1 with your child to cover the cost of their science fair board, I would appreciate it!
Math
We will be finishing up our second unit with subtraction methods at the end of this week. We will review early next week and will take our test on Wednesday. Study guides will go home this Friday.
